what kind of plating is good? chrome plating is what i want, but i heard that it retains heat and isn't good for performance. isn't nickel cadmium whatever almost like chrome also but it can retain more heat like if you want to get your exhaust manifold plated to a shiny chrome color you would use nickel so it doesn't melt off the chrome or turn gold after time?

other choices are powder coating and high temperature paint. does polishing count as a plating?

im not talking about only valve covers and manifolds. how bout intercooler piping? i still want chrome or a nice polish look for my engine bay, but i dunno anymore. i dont want to powdercoat my valve cover. i want everything silver and shiny and simple. dont want that many colors in there.

Poloshing is polishing and plateing is plateing. Chrome will not withstand the heat from the exhaust manifold. You can buy a buffer from harbor freight (~$60) and some compound (~$15 for 2 sticks) and do everything yourself. I just did my valve cover. I wouldn't trust chrome on any engine parts due to flaking

jet hot coating is the ish on anything that will see a lot of heat all of hte bling of polished/chrome without the discoloraition or the need to polish shit all the damn time
