speed limiter in 3rd gear?

Ok this is really weird i just started running my 240sx with sr20det redtop swap and i can get to the redline in 1st and 2nd which is 7500rpm but when i wind out 3rd it cuts out at 7000 rpm feels like a speed limiter? I have no idea. If you have any comments or ideas to what it is they would be appreciated thx in advance. ohh and 7000rpm in third is like 80-90mph.

Maybe the needle just isn't keeping up and you really are at 7500. Try slowly accelerating to redline to see if that might be the problem.
