i got 160K on mine and it never burns oil and the oil is clean when i change it. It gets shitty gas mileage cause i always race it. 101K is really low. someone must have raped it.

maybe she didnt know what maintenence is?
the number of people that dont even think about oil changes and that kinda stuff until a check engine light or other warning light comes on kinda scares me.

I have a 89, and my old engine went through so much oil, I was filling about the same amount of gas and oil. So i chucked it and got a DE. It's easy, and way more reliable than my E was. Just do it.

Is your 90 bone stock or have you made any modifications to it?? Have you put your ECU into diagnostic mode & checked for any diagnostic trouble codes? Have you tested both your Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor along with your Oxygen Sensor? Have you done a tune up lately...swapped out your spark plugs / distributor cap & rotor? Check your Spark Plug wires? Checked the idle & timing??

All these factors, (and more...including driving style..rabbit starts, lead foot, etc), affect gas mileage. Let us know what you've done, or haven't done, and maybe we can help you improve your gas mileage...

And as for the burning a quart of oil, are your rings shot? How bout the valves? Rev the engine at 2k for about 30 seconds, see if you get any white smoke out the tailpipe. If you do then you're definitely burning oil. Try doing a compression test & see what results you get back.

Anyhow, hope this helps...

PS:
By the way, a KA24DE get's the same lousy gas mileage..you'll only average about 22 mpg. That's what I'm averaging now....it's a shame I have a lead foot....the intake & exhaust don't help either!!

you have many cars! Turn all of them in for a skyline. Then you can be like paul walker and wear shorts and tennis shoes and hang out with cool black people.

i have replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs, and plug wires, i'm not so much worried abotu the gas mileage as i am about the burning oil, and yes it does blow smoke :(
