View Full Version : Air Flow problem- PLEASE HELP

Hey guys i have a sr20 with a top mount to4e on it. Ever since ive put the top mount on ive been running extremly rich so go it in for a tune yesterday, it has a power fc as its ecu btw. Its had a issue where when i get on it then take my foot of throttle when im in neutral the rpms drop to almost a stall about .5 . I thought the guy tuning it would be able to fix but turns out he cant and doesnt know what the problem is. He thinks its something to do with air flow and his suggestion is to go to a hks fcon which isnt really in my budget . wondering if you guys have any ideas ..

Do you have the L-jetro (maf version) or D-jetro (map) version of the Power FC?

If you have the L-jetro version, are you running a blow off valve?

If so is it recirculated or atmospheric?

If you are running an atmospheric BOV and are not recirculating it chances are your BOV is opening after you let off the gas. Once that happens the air isn't exactly how it was metered once it enteres the intake chamber causing your car to drop in revs / stall.

L Jetro and yes a hks ssqv and it is recirculated also have a z32 maf wondering if I shouls replace

You got a boost leak somewhere. (This answer applies to approx 95% of "my engine has problems and it has a MAF" thread.)

Or you did not set the powerFC to work with the Z32 MAF ... but you could not have missed something that obvious do you.

Wouldnt be a boost leak i had it on my old setup which was stock but apexi was tuned to that in japan and i redid with whole top mount different manifold and turbo. Trying with a different maf tomorrow if not looks like ill be saving for a d jetro or hks f con so i can run it with a map instead.

Did you boost leak test it?

smoke tested before tune not one leak.

Sorry, that does not make sense to me. Did you set the VE map of the Z32 MAF in you powerFC, yes or no ?

This sounds more like the iacv is gunked up and slow to catch the idle.
