As some know and some dont i've been without my car for about two months now. some weird issues forced me to take her apart and problem hunt. I also took the time to do some long overdue upgrades. Hopefully she'll be done this week as most everything is ready to roll.

brief recap - 1995 240 with 96 S13 SR Greddy FMIC and Intake Manifold, DP exhaust etc etc

now for the new fun stuff :D first up got a good deal on an SS Autochrome exh mani and hks style O2 extension;
http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/DSC03016.jpg

Hanging between these two pieces will be the hybrid turbo thats been under my desk for almost a year. its a 16g compressor in a T25 housing;
http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/DSC03020.jpg

and feeding that will be my Taka Motorsports SS lines;
http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/DSC03022.jpg

the whole assembly together;

now, what was percieved to be the problem was a wiring issue somewhere in the works. so I got a new harness and redid the wiring with the help of the infamous Russ "R240NA" G. I only got the 80% RDM spec but it still looks damn good. wiper amp was moved inside the car alarm siren moved to inside the Drivers fender the cruise control brain was removed and put beside the rest of the CC stuff which has been out of the car for 2 years now. the wiper motor and amp wires were moved to the other side of the F3 plug so they never have to leave the car again.wires hoses and whatever else we could find were moved hidden and cleaned. including the sloppy alarm install (origianlly done by a local shop) interior also got a little sprucing up with the addition of my new Nardi Gara 3 steering wheel and mystery hub. (hub came with my classico that I want to polish before running) stereo wiring is rerouted and cleaned up. as was guage wiring.

my intercooler had taken a beating so its being repaired (no leaks but none of the mounting tabs survived) so its getting new longer tabs to take advantage of the second hhole on the support and the top tab is being removed in favor of two tabs that will be tapped and secured to the light brackets. new IC piping is being fabbed and will incorperate a blow through style 300ZX mafs in the cold pipe. pics upon completion. now to keep up with the turbo and the new MAFS i needed more fuel. this is provided by a new set of Power Enterprises 850cc injectors;
http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/DSC00033.jpg

And to control it all will be a shiny new Apex'i Power FC. the FC is here but the comander for it wont arrive till Friday. Along with the O2 extension gasket. HKS has everything on back order so my EVC EZ II wont be in for another week or so I believe it is. I'll be settting the turbo to about 7psi with the HKS wastegate actuator in the mean time. Hmmmm well thats about it. hope you enjoyed. sorry I was bored silly at work. I've got more pics and am working on install write ups for a few things. Stay tuned! ok Im done :blah:

Hmm, it will be interesting to see how the greddy intake manifold and smaller turbo work together. Are you going to dyno it?

Kid - I had a bitch of a time getting the oolant feed line back there... actually it was getting the old line off that gave me problems. but its on now. I'll get more pics during install. :)

No Motiv - yup the YF is still back there. unless something bad happens to it it's staying on there forever lol. I do plan on getting under there and putting new shorty hangers on there to try and reclaim some ground clearence though

chit. hit a couple of snags.. namely the wrong comander for the PFC... but I got more pics as the engine is going back together. couple more things need to be done but it shouldb e ready this week. waiting on the IC to get back as well.

big ups to Sway500 for not effin with my cold pipe yet. (i sold him my old apexi BOV and gave him the whole cold pipe then wanted the pipe back) so the plan is to cut out the section of the cold pipe and in its place will be the Z32 MAFs :D blow through style. i'll put more pics up later.Im really miffed about the comander though. ah well it'll give justified2.4 time to get me my EVC EZII here :) I'll finally have a boost controller! yay me ooooh and my TC Rods!

Great job and I can't wait to see the car in person. Everything sound good beside the size of the turbo.

Steeles
04-19-2004, 07:16 AM
and whats wrong with the size of my turbo? she said it was a good size! hehe pics up later

Steeles

pics as promised!

PE 850cc injectors. these arent as dro pin as they say. clips need to be swapped out. you can follow the instructions on www.zeroyon.coms tech section or just cut the old plugs off ( i had an extra set so thats what I did) the skinny part of the collar needs to face up as shown in the picture. it goes in the other way but you'll never get the harness clip on there. as it is we had to clip the connectors on and THEN tighten down the caps. oh and those little rubber thingies in the caps we cut in half to make them fit.

http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/new_clips.jpg

The intake manifold and the valve cover got a little paint work...

http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/pearl_closeup.jpg
http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/exhaust_side.jpg

wires got some loom and more tape...
http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/harness_loom.jpg

Hoses got rerouted and cleaned up. trying to keep as much as possible off the new pint job. the Fuel lines will be moved soon as well.
http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/hose_routing.jpg

The SS Autochrome manifold fit great except one runner was hitting the mounting hole for the factory catch can. we dont really have air tools where we have the car... and since we brainfarted and didnt think to do this before we put the freshly painted valve cover back on the car this hole had to be hand shaved. Luckily Jason has a girl so he wont need that wrist anyway. :jerkit: he took a hacksaw blade from the sawzall kit and did this by hand to protect the VC. (he painted it so he was protective of it)
http://img37.photobucket.com/albums/v114/Steeles/Turbo/hacksawed.jpg

now aside from recieving the wrong comander for my PFC the cars almost ready to roll again. new TC rods and the boost controller get picked up tonight from Justin at www.up-speed.com and one other piece Im test fitting has to be installed. the hard part is gonna be waiting on that comander AGAIN! im thinking of heading to ATL to Balanced performance this weekend for tuning. if I get it running. :p stay tuned true believers I'll have pics of the turbo mani and lines and such installed. :aw: im almost done!!!! :hyper: :fruit: :bigok:

The pictures of the valve cover and intake manifold don't do it justice. They look so much better in person than in those pictures. It doesnt matter though my baby is still gonna roll you one day :x: . Big ups to Steeles for selling me all of his old un needed parts.

Sup guys, another update and maybe a little help. the commander I bought for my PFC didnt display and therefore wasnt usable. so I sent it to Phase2 (cause I ordered the comander through them) and my PFC as well to be tested. well the good news is both units are fine and work... just not together. turns out I got an older PFC that uses a 415-F001 comander instead of the newer 414-x001 so I either need to find an older commander or a newer PFC. chit. so for the moment I remain bent over and :Owned: TC rods and EVC are awaiting me to pick them up. once I get teh EVC wired I can put the dash back together. and then we just gotta rework the IC stuff and be done. man I need a tig welder lol
