Ok so I'm new to the Nissan family and I have my first issue. I just recently picked up a 92 240 and it seems for the most part healthy my concern tho is about 2-3k rpm it feels slightly sluggish and this is worse when its cold the CEL will pop on at rare and random times and goes away after about 10 secs. The car was also bounced off redline and shut off only to turn it back on and it be fine. Pleeease someone help me I d't wanna just start guessing and waste money I plan on going Sr soon but wanna make sure the motor is good when I sell it after I swap the motor its a ka dual cam btw

Use the SEARCH function here on Zilvia to find a FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL, (FSM) for your 92 S13. Download it and save it on your computer.

Using the FSM, put the Engine Control Unit, (ECU), into Diagnostic Mode. Read the flashing Check Engine Light on your dashboard & see what codes the ECU kicks out. If none are present, then you are in luck. All you would have to do is the routine maintenance on your S13 to get it in tip top shape. That would consist of the following:

1). Run a can of Seafoam thru your gas tank & fuel injectors. SeaFoam on a Nissan 240sx - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y6PttqAU1GM)

2). Inspect all your vacuum lines to see if any are cracked, loose, or leaking. Fix or Replace.

3). After you seafoam the motor, and inspect for vacuum leaks, then remove the MAF sensor & using a MAF cleaner, clean out your MAF.
Cleaning Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) on Nissan Altima 2001 - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVXjKl1OGEE) Procedure on YouTube is somewhat the same for a S13. Make sure the wires running to your MAF are in good condition and not cracking, torn or loose.

4). After you've done all this, then you might want to change your fuel filter, air filter, distributor cap & rotor, spark plugs, spark plug wires, oil, oil filter, engine coolant temperature sensor, and oxygen sensor.

All this servicing should put your motor back in tip top condition and hopefully solve your 2-3k bogging.

Hope it helps...
