View Full Version : I finally got to drive my 240

I just wanted to express the happiness I felt driving haha. Anyways, for almost two years there has been a 240 sitting around with a complete SR20 DET swap. I've only read about 240's and 240's with SR20, never driven one or in one.

Well I wanted it, and the owner basically said if I could fix it, it was mine. I worked on just getting it running, I did a lot to it which included a new ECU, new fuel pump etc. I got it running, and then came the biggest hurdle, getting it registered. I live in California, so smog was the hardest. I haven't gotten it smogged yet, but I have a place that could "pass" it since I live in an area that doesn't really check for that stuff.

Anyways I figured since I had a moving permit I would FINALLY try it out. Took it on a road that goes through deep forest (figured less cops on the road) and went for it. This was my first time driving a turbo car, first time driving a Rear Wheel drive car, and I loved it! It was totally worth it.

Cars been down for two years. Still not even close. I hate it and want to part it out but I will loose to much money. Hopefully I have the same feeling you did. But I doubt it considering I have already had a car with a similar set up. Oh well I'm glad you experienced what makes us all do this crazy shit!

Thanks, I've never drove a car just to drive in a long time. I just love it.

Good luck with your guys car, once you get it back, you'll feel this feeling too. Also have to say thanks to this forum I was able to fix a lot of the problems by myself so it was a huge help. Now that I'm driving it, I have to try and not be a lurker anymore.

I like this guy.

Finally a new member who searched up information and applied it to solve problems; (instead of making 20 threads asking to be spoonfed.)

This is now a "How long since your car has run" thread.

I know that feel, I had my car sitting in the backyard for 4 months until I finally got to drive it.

Haha yeah man I'm right there with you I'm at 20k and I still need body work paint engine management harness intercooler piping exhaust seat rails.... The list goes on.

I kinda hate it and would love to sell it.

I'm going crazy at two years. I would have never made it to six. I already want to sell it

Here's close to how it sits now. Got the brakes and clutch master and lines in now but used all chase bays stuff so it's not much different.

I can't wait to get that feeling op is talking about. Making me mad jelly.

I'm about to make a sandwich

Bluebattosai, now you just need to paint it red.

Then you have to watch it at night because it will soon start killing people including your girlfriend

I know how you feel OP, I've had my s14 for a little over a year... Got it with a stock sr with rod knock, took me 3 months to get her on the road again.. drove for a month and a half then parked her for some simple stuff and later turned into big changes. 8 months went by... Just took her out yesterday and getting her aligned as I type. I wasn't too happy while I was working on her... Almost felt like the effort wasn't worth it but just driving her over to the shop with busted as alignment threw all those feelings out the window!

I'm a huge lurker as well, this is actually my first post talking about my car on here. Its amazing how much this forum has taught me. Enjoy your car OP!

my situation is slightly different as i had to say goodbye to my sr powered coupe a while back and i have now been set on making something for this hatch i picked up... going from a 235hp turbo'd sr to a 155hp NA KA reeeeally sucks:( and when i get my si back from honda due to a muffed up clutch Zilvia will be having a new build thread:wavey: its going to kill me not being able to drive my hatch though...

My car has been down since January since I spun a bearing and I bought a SR before I left and I won't be home till later this year. Can't wait to get my SR running and feel some real power when I get back. Hopefully the same feeling as OP but I've driven a SR20 coupe before so I kinda know how it might feel.
