just reformat. and dont go to any porn sites that your not familiar with. and dont download music. (or at least dont use limewire. of course it works better for me than other programs. oh wait I dont download music nevermind) that should stop it for a while. but also invest in an antivirus software. they will show you what spyware you have and will show you how to delete it so it wont come back. just by exiting the program, that wont help, next time you turn your computer on it will come back up. and if you just delete the program, chances are it will come back. you have to delete it a special way and norton or mcaffe or any antivirus will show you how to.

lavasoft.com download "adaware"

also use winmx for downloading mp3's..

you probably have tons of spyware. taking up a gig of RAM is pretty hardcore. run viruscan and adaware as well as do the msconfig thing. if all else fails just format your harddrive. that's the best way to do it. nothin like a clean slate.

http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp Free online virus scan. The only thing I use besides adaware and spybot.

Other then that, get a firewall. Norton personal firewall is good.

If you know where to find it, get Sisoft Sandra, it like tells you everything about your computer, performance specs, whats running what where etc..

Yah once you do the msconfig, go to the "boot.ini" tab and check "/noguiboot" That removes the "Windows" logo when you boot up. Once you decide to turn off alot of the stuff in teh other tab, your system should be pretty fast. I turn off all the extra windows XP crap and the system is pretty fast, but once you start tweaking alot of stuff, your system probably wont be as stable as before. (you'll understand if you overclock your system etc..)
