hey all

when i purchased my s14 factory turbo sr20det i was told it had an aftermarket 2 way lsd in it. but i thought it was locked.
there was no welds on spider gears
anyway i pulled it apart and it only has two shimming discs.

i dont have vernier calipers so i dont know the thickness of the shimming discs.

this diff is so tight, its full time locked.
i want to make it tight but not locked.

does anyone know what sized shims i should use to make it tight but not locked?

cheers

Measure both of them, use the thickest one.

Everyone requires different sizes and some aren't even sold anymore. To be on the sae side just use the thickest one. And just one.

I used two thinner ones and it's 100% locked up, I'll be taking it apart and using just one thick thrust washer/shim.

Ok thanks
I'll try it with just one shim and see.what happens

you cannot change the locking characteristics of a 2 way differential by shimming. full time lock is a characteristic of a 2 way diff

VLSD, different story.
