View Full Version : engine dies right after starting
i have a stock ka manual. When I go to start it it kind of sounds like it is choking and the engine will sometimes die. If I give it a little gas it will sometimes keep it from dieing. What could be the cause of this?

Check your TPS, Timing. Mines was a bad TPS Sensor. I changed it and it stayed on after that.

Yes ^ always start with the easy things. Use a digital volt ohm meter and check your ECT resistance, Tps voltage, Maf voltage...

that or a vaccum leak. my old ek9 did the same thing and it ened up being the throttle body. it was caked with dirt:bite:
It idles little louder than it was was before at first but quiets down. I had this issue before when the throttle body was dirty but not to this extreme. I also smell gas when its cold outside but not so much when the temperature is warm. The check engine light hasn't come on.
