KA24DE from 94 S13.

When pulling off the UPPER timing chain, I forgot to mark the lower gear, the one that goes to the lower chain. I think its called timing gear? (Someone please give me the right term.) When putting this together what will I have to do?

Upper cam gears are marked and tie wrapped on so they keep their place. Only concern is getting them in the right spot again.

Engine IS on TDC, with cam lobes facing outward. Cams are now removed though...

*********ALSO... that timing gear, has a 24mm bolt holding it on. Do I need to remove it to get the cylinder head off? IT WONT COME OFF!!!!! I tried a breaker bar, and my air gun.. nothing.

ALSO, that MM allen do you need for the head bolts? Pretty sure they are 10MM. Want to make sure.

10mm allen for head bolts.

Use a pulley puller on the timing gear... However, you shouldn't have to remove it to take the head off that I'm aware of..

Problem is I can't get the bolt off its a 24mm. It will not turn I don't want to break something. Saw some videos of head removal and they came right out

But my initial question,

What is the process for putting my car back together now that I forgot to mark that timing gear with the chain?

The tops are marked, and tie wrapped together so they don't lose their position but my dumb ass forgot to mark the bottom one. UGH!

Bottom one should have a timing mark on it.

Nah, not that I know of.

The guy I talked to at autozone (oh boy..) said to put it back together as per the pics i took, as long as the engine is at TDC and has not moved. Which is true. Then once together, take out the spark plugs, and turn the engine by hand a few revolutions to make sure the valves clear.

Also, question. in this picture, what are the little grommet type things located in the head gasket called? Do I need these to properly change the head gasket?

Unless you got one of those cheap $70 ebay timing kits it will have a little dimple just like that gear. If it does not you should really think about replacing the whole kit.
