I have a 1990 240sx, 1995 Ka24de with the s13 manual transmission.
Recently, I've noticed a "Clanking" noise when i start off in first. only in lower rpms. then again in second low rpms. once you speed up it goes away. Then coming to a stop putting the clutch in and slowing down (or even in second slowing down at same speed), the noise comes back loudly and almost at a complete stop the transmission with shake for a moment bad. it has a newer clutch with about 2500 miles on it. New fluid mobil 1 75w-90 synthetic.
Any Idea's?

Thanks.

Check the tranny mount... and/or engine mounts.

How did you check the mounts? Did you look at them or actually take them out?

I've had a tranny mount that looked good until off the car. It was completely separated.

I am more worried about the rather loud clanking. its almost a grinding but more so like a metal on metal. would the transmission shake in nuetral when slowing down from say 30 mph. putting in clutch then at about 5 mph shake and make that loud clanking noise? it feel more inside the transmission
