View Full Version : Dual MAF pigtails ?

I'm a "what-if" type of thinker and whenever I get knew parts I like to save the old parts just incase something happened and I need to resort back.

So, with that being said, can I have 2 diff MAF pigtails spliced into my wire harness? I'm currently running stock RB25 (J60) MAF and am upgrading to the N62. Would be pretty cool to just splice the N62 wires in to the J60 wires so I can use whatever MAF I need simply by changing MAF and connected the connector.

Would this idea work?

It should. You could just cut the harness wiring around 4 inches or so from the MAF, and put the "Male" half of some cable quick-disconnector onto all the wires (harness side), and put the female ends on each of your MAF's cables. Then you just swap the MAF's like so:

Never thought of it like that. I guess it could work as an option, however I was moreso thinking of having both both pigtails wired in as a permanent solution and would then only have to swap MAFs and not MAF & pigtails.

Thanks

I don't know how that would work, but if you can do it, more power to you.

In my head its quite simple really.

Ex:

J60 ---- Function
A ---- Not connected
B ---- Signal
C ---- 12v ground
D ---- Signal ground
E ---- 12v power

N62 ---- Function
A ---- Not connected
B ---- Signal
C ---- 12v ground
D ---- Signal ground
E ---- 12v power
F ---- Not connected

I would then just splice into the Corresponding J60 wires.

Right, but how would you make it so that say, if you had the J60 connected, that no power was getting to the N62, or vice versa? Basically, how do you keep power from flowing through all the wires, if they're all spliced into each other?

You are correct in the sense that power or signal will be running through it, but would that really be a bad thing if the other MAF isn't hooked up? If so, your idea would work great.

I got 3 MAF plugs on my WS harness. S1, S2 and Z32 MAF plugs.

Well, the ECU would start to get readings from both MAFs and that would really mess with your engine. I believe so, anyway.

I just soldered both plugs on the same harness, Never had an Issue

Would it be best to splice the N62 wires to the J60 wires since they are basically just an extension of the wire harness, or would it be best to just splice into the actual wire harness?

Thanks for your inputs, i plan on doing this to my ride.
