True. I myself am waiting to buy a 1992/1993 GTR when the car is 25 years old when the NHTSA & FMVSS regulations no longer apply, and without having to buy through a registered importer. Once the import restrictions have been lifted, the price for these cars will most likely reflect that of the current Canadian market/price point. More importantly they will be able to be registered legally across the board.

Minor correction. You are partialy correct. The bond released r32s were granfather by the nhtsa as the were brought in and sold to unknowing buyers. Instead of screwing the buyers over the nhtsa gave them a pass. Although they didnt meet crash test standards, the emisson system were identical to the r33.
The few r34s were the same thing. The difference is that the 34mave have had the same catalyst as the r 32, r33, it didnt meet the obd2 post (1996)portion of it not the airbag/seat sensor setup, nor evap am crash
So youll see 94 released r32s beecause in japan they production times overlap. In 94 you could by an r32 or r33
As for the few r34s in the states with a release, the majority are not titled with the right year of production but with the right chassis number. Most o tgem a registered in states that dont have emmision inspection.

okay clearly some MAJOR info is missing in this for sale add.. you do realize that R32-R34 GT-R have the same motor/trans (RB26DETT with ATTESSA 4wd system)... so when you say you swapped from a R32 GT-R to an "R33" what are you saying... you swapped for the same setup in an RB26DETT or is it a GTS-T (2.5L RB25DET)...all you are stating is BODYSTYLES in your add and its confusing as HELL to someone who has actually owned a few of these and knows more than just the American "GT-R" FAST AND FURIOUS CHASING FOOL. Are you high??? You can buy a 1989 in Canada right now for less then 10000 then drive it down here and it be fully legal next year. I wouldn't pay more then 14,500 for a semi legal r32.

you can't, it won't be legal. The 25 year rule isn't as easy as you think. The car has to be imported from its original country in its original configuration. What you fail to understand is that these cars command premium$$$ in the US. You have to pay to play with GTR's in the states.

Its not as easy as just driving it passede customs. Otherwise, i would of had a gtr 6 years ago registered at my uncles house in burnaby, bc instead of having to ride the greyhound back down holding my head in shame... customs treats these cars more serious than crossing a dimebag...
