The car is a 1996 Sentra daily driver and why anyone would want to take it is beyond me... but this is an amusing story anyways so ill share it:

So my nephew wakes me up at like 3am telling me that the cops are outside and want to talk to me. Im startled in bed going what the...f uck?!

He mentioned something about one of our cars being stolen. So I go outside... and I get asked for my ID and was given a description of the stolen car. I said "yes that's mine". I saw where it was parked and surely it was gone.

They said they found it and gave me the address. I said OK and they told some other officers there that I was on my way to go pick it up.
We drove to the spot, and I see a lot of people outside of a house with a police patrol double parked. I get off and show my ID, and I am then told to check the contents of the car... I was still puzzled as to how the hell my car got to someone's front driveway!

Everything was there, just the glove compartment stuff was all over the place. The cops told me someone stole my car, drove it to this other house, and got off and stole the same car from them but in Burgundy color.
I was like wtf?!

They left my car there with the windows down and running the cops said, and that the people in the house called the cops because they were puzzled as to why a white version of their car was on their driveway with no one inside running, with the lights on, and why their same model vehicle was missing.
We took the car back no problem, and parked it back and tried to go back to sleep. WHat. The. [email protected]?

I just thought I shared that rather amusing and odd occurrence this morning... One of the perks of living "in tha hood" I guess!

Probably gonna chop it up to use on another car. Car they own is white so they make sense to get a white one.

Did they not mess with the wiring trying to hotwire it? Or did you leave key inside? Or is it like 240's and everyother key will work?

Aside from the ignition switch being a little harder to turn the car is completely intact. I had the car locked and I figured no one would steal it lol... I guess there's a thief out there for everything and anything!! Yeah I feel pretty lucky lol.

unwtdhero, did you really have to say that? Totally unnecessary. Delete your comment

Fattyduece your comment didnt contribute to his story at all. My comment was a rational question. When hotwiring a car you have to mess with wiring, he didnt mention it being messed up. Juat that he drive it home. Which lead me to believe he left a key in his car, hidden or not. 12yr old fat kids dont belong on this forum. Go back to nicoclub /endlesson

I was implying that the lock cylinders get wore out and theres a high chance that an old similar key could very well unlock doors/ work in ignition. Hell my key could start Civilized_drifters hatchback at any given time

scandalous, they probably planned to chop it. or an OCD tweeker who just didn't like that color enough. Hopefully theirs turns up as easy as yours.
grandparents had a saturn stolen from their driveway in richmond a few years back, luckly it turned up down the street in the school parking lot. whoever stole it left a bunch of bay area nobody rap cd's behind...most aren't so lucky good to hear its back in one peice

240's are easy to steal. yeah i said it too...not like he posted a step-by-step tutorial on how to jack one. think about it, if people who own the cars dont know its that easy, and thieves do, who has the upper hand?

happens too much, and its no secret, and its not going to change unless people get an alarm/removable wheel/lojack/clutch lock/killswitch. I think its better the community knows really how easy it is to get one, so we can take the proper measures to keep our investments secure.
