ok i was about to upgrade my brakes on my 91 240sx when i just decided to go with the 300zx calipers. ive found some on sale on certain sites and thought it be alot cheaper if i installed it myself. some auctions listed the calipers itself but wouldnt i need (dont know the technical name for it) the part that the caliper actually slides onto? just wondering wat i would need to buy and or have to complete the swap. i am also gona stay with the stock hubs and not the 5 lug. does that make a difference? just some quick easy steps would be great. and how much clearance do i need for the calipers.
thx

Lemme help you out before everyone tells you to search on this topic.
here is a very thorough guide to the upgrade (http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm)
About needing the thing that the caliper slides into . . . I think you might be confused about what exactly is replaced with new brakes. Stock brakes use a sliding caliper(basically 2 pieces) where as the 300zx brakes, as well as most high performance brake systems, use a fixed caliper (one piece). The 300zx brakes will bolt up in place of your current brakes with modification. There will be nothing sliding anymore after the upgrade (besides the brake pads).
hope this helps
