We found a '95 240SX LE 5-spd that had 113k kms on it. We got it for $12k CDN...what do you guys think? Good deal?? We did not buy a warranty on it, although we will have the option (we are picking up car on Tuesday..so we have till Tuesday) to decide. Should we get the extended warranty?? Will anything go wrong with the car??

Also the car is fully loaded. It has leather seats, abs, 5-spd, tape/cd player, power mirrors, spoiler, rims. I'm guessing it has vlsd too, since someone said all 240s with abs come with vlsd.

So opinions?? Can't wait till we pick it up!

i dunno how much money that is in US, but the car would be worth $6000 tops here. i dunno, if you were selling it to an enthusiast, you could probably get a little more, since its a CDN spec

Actually, by US standards, I think that is a fair deal. For a loaded 240 (i.e., abs/lsd, leather) with, what is that about 65K mi(?) you would be looking at more like $7K. At least this summer, when I couldn't even find that combo, you were.

The price of 240SX are inflated here because they are in such high demand. Every car we looked at was sold within 3 days of the ad being placed! I think we got a good deal.

$12K CDN = $7.5K USD
113K km = 70.6K mi

If I wanted to, I could probably sell this car for the same price in a year or so.

ahhh 113k kilometres sorry i thought you were saying 113,000 miles, i was thinking that would make it a pretty bad deal. with the reasonably low milage and considering the canadian spec differences, with the price converted to US, you payed what you should've. hope you enjoy yours, now if only i could find the right one for me

What's so special about the Canadian spec that makes it desirable??

You get vlsd... getting that here is almost impossible!

some people want HICAS and ABS as well, you can get ABS here too, but HICAS and VLSD...basically, canadian 240's are like euro or JDM spec 200sx/silvia, but with LHD and our miserable KA24 engine, and the headlights as well, and im sure theres numerous other differences, so its not the greatest comparison...other differences include manual seatbelts in a 180sx/s13, which is why we have to modify our seatbelts to install a do-luck RXB, because of the auto-seatbelt motor

Sounds like a good deal, grats! Welcome to the club and all that stuff. Find out what kind of things will void the warrenty. If your planning on doing mods in the next year that will void a say 5 year warrenty then, no don't get it. If your gona leave it stock I would say its worth the extra ~1500cnd

The 2 year/40,000km warranty is $2600CDN with tax (yes we pay tax on warranty). I'm not planning on doing any mods to the car. Its gonna stay stock till I'm out of Uni.

But is 113k km (~75k miles) a lot for the 240SX?? Will it last upto 250k km (~156k miles) ?? My family will be driving it in the winter and we will get winter tires for it. Which tires do you guys recommend?? Blizzaks??

that sounds like a lot for a 2 year/40,000km warranty. The chances of anything going wrong with the 240 b4 100,000 miles seams pretty slim. I don't think I would get it. I don't know anything about snow tires, tirerack.com should have something on which ones to chose or what not.

if this is a primarily winter car... dont' get a 240!... rw drive = bad for snow!.. get a subaru... wow, if i had had the money for a Impreza 2.5rs... i woulda kissed my 240 goodbye in a second... .. that isnt' to say i don't love my 240, if i had a impreza i'd probably be saying that i would kill to have a 240 u know how it goes, always want what u can't have.

Canadian 240s have headlights like Euro spec? Never got a close look at a 95 or 96, didn't realize they were glass. Hmmmm. . If this is the case, might have a place to get my "euro" spec 97-98 lights? Is this really true? hehe. . I liked my Canadian S13. . if not for the hicas, for the non power seatbelts and daytime running lights (looked cool as #### with amber bulbs). .

BTW!! AWESOME deal on the 240... and in Canada, no need to worry about finding an ABS car to have VLSD. . a base SE with 4 lug even has it. .

oops... misread that post. . I was gonna say. .I was sure they didn't have glass =)

It's cause Japan hates the US and they know that buying from Canada would be too easy. . gawd I wish at least Canada had the 200sx!

You guys should look at prices for 240's in the northeast.....a 95 SE with around 65K goes for a min of 10G's... =(

Thanks for the replies guys! Can't wait till we pick it up on Tuesday.

The headlights are glass I think, not plastic. I don't remember if I had 5-lug or 4-lug rims. The rims did look nice though. I'm just hoping it will have VLSD so it will make it easier to drive in the winter.

Man, the best deal I saw in my area (Bay Area, California) was $9,700 USD for a 95 S14 with everything (including the VLSD) that has 91k on the odometer. You've got yourself a steal sir.
