I changed my oil (mobil 1 of course) two days ago and put on the right filter (factory nissan ser sentra). Then yesterday I had a pretty steady drip. So I double checked everything, sure enough everything was tight. I even put a different filter on thinking the other one might have been defective. I think its the bolt on filter base that sits on the block. I've seen a prelude gushin oil from there before. Has anyone ever had theirs leak before and can I just take it off and fix with some rtv, or is there a gasket I can buy somewhere?

and make sure there isn't an old gasket stuck onto the filter seat/threaded part thing on the block.
that happened to my friend and oil spewed all over! not to mention he had to buy more oil....

Yeah I know to lube the gasket and always check for the old gasket to come off. I've worked at valvoline for a year and a half and go to technical college for automotive technology. This whole oil leak thing just scares me cause I cant really tell where its coming from. It looks like its coming out around the filter base, but I just hope oils not coming from just north of that where the block and head meet(head gasket leaking maybe?). That would suck fat D. Under the pedestool is there a gasket or something I could replace? Or do you normally have to buy a whole new one. In which case where the hell would I find that, since the ser sentra's is different?

Old post I know, but wouldn't it be good if we also had more solutions posted here to help other lost souls?:coolugh:
I had to use RTV because there was not time to wait for and order
The part you are looking for is Nissan # 15066-5E510
You will need two of them.
