I'm just running a K&N cone filter on mine.... how will this out perform an open element cone filter? What are the benefits for $350?

It definitely is. The Induction box design helps to trap air and it improves acceleration throughout the power band. Frankly, I have not seen one used in a silvia here in the states, however, it is widely used in Japan. I did installed a few in EVOs and WRXs, the improved response in acceleration was noticeable.
