If you guys could do me a favor, I really like this car..... but I feel that the price is to high. What would be the tops you guys would shell out for this beauty.
Thanks for your input

Miles are a tad high. You can try to talk him down to 6000 with stock parts. But his price is average for a non converted kouki 97/98 with some mods.

i offered him 6k, he will probably feel low-balled but id probably be willing to go up to 6500.
it's just sooo clean, I cant give up the opportunity to own such a clean car.

I would offer $6k just to throw an offer out then he would say something higher and I would say yes because that is one damn nice Kouki.

Bought my 1998 Kouki with 350z rims, clean paint, mint interior and Apexi GT spec exhaust KA motor for 6500... his car I can see pulling 6500 also.... if he wants he could hold out and someone would pay 7k.... it is a clean kouki.

How ever much you're willing to pay. If people are willing to pay $7k for a kouki, people will continue to inflate their price. Would I pay that much for an S14? Fuck no. I'm on my 3rd S14 in almost 13 yrs.

5500.

the price he is asking is way high.

Price is a little high considering its a base model with reasonably high miles. The fact that its a 5-speed (if its original) is pretty rare for a Kouki though. That car is clean but keeping in mind that its a base model and doesn't have the factory sideskirts, 5-lug or front lip that the SE models have, I would pay 6k tops.

Judging by your previous post in the tech section I would advise you to pass on this and start with something cheaper. You should be able to find a clean stockish s13 or Zenki s14 for 2-3K. You don't sound like you have much experience with cars and you can spend the extra 3-4k that you save buying and doing your own mods. It may cost a little more and take more time to do it this way but the experience and knowledge that you will gain from doing it will be priceless. Just my 2 cents...

gahhh damm he can ask for however much he wants. If you want to pay cheaper, find a different one. I think unmolested or tastefully modded cars should be worth about that much.

Mileage is not high. If its an original 5 speed and the car has a clean history, I'd totally shell out $6500. He can even take his seats back and give me the originals.

No 240.. No id

I had a red one owner 97 kouki. Very very clean untouched, barely sold it for $5500.00 people were calling offering me 3k for it like wth. Oh and it was origonal 5speed,131000 milles, clean title and SE. It even have the window sticker and all the doc it came with. If I were you, ill offer him 5500 and let him keep seats and wheels.

Bought my red 98 red koukie for 12K all original 5sp SE with 9K original miles. 2nd owner, I got if off a stealership. Carfax, auto check, DMV, and title all are consistant and is a legit 98 9K miles 240sx(11k now since I bought it. I didnt regret a penny spent on that car :2f2f: ill prbly bury it with me when i die lol. Ran and looked so perfect I couldnt bargain much, KBB says 12K-13K so it was fair anyways.

Cant fit the car cover on, on the weeekends/winter with the stock attena on PITA unscewing it everytime, otherwise 99.6% stock. lol . The tires were michelins from 1998 14 year old tires. Had tons of tread left but the rubber was breaking out becuase of age and elements. Had to swap them for some fresh rubber. So not totally manufacture oem original per-say i guess

^^^ Damn, that's as close as you can come to buying a brand new 240. I would shell out 12K for that in a heartbeat. Glad to see it made it into the hands of an enthusiast.

thanks, Yeah thought long and hard if I would go down with a 350Z, G35 or a 93+ supra. Supra was hard to find at a price I want to pay for, and for the Z and G, at the end of the day they'll still be a Z and G witch you can almost find anywhere, so I decided on the 240 being how rare-er it is. :bigok: Going to keep it stock for the NEXT decade.

Well since i've had over 10 240's and i'm always scoping out. If it was a ka-t, or sr20, etc, it'd be worth the asking price.

I wouldn't pay more than 5,500$. Stock shell if it's clean can sell for around 4k. Throw xxrs on and stance is another 800, 800. Think of it that way. People who say 6.5 are idiots, drift tax or what?

Hey GreenApple nice car. You kouki guys should start a S14 Kouki Preservation Society, not too many original koukis produced and not many clean ones left, people drifting them into walls / turning them into gutted out track cars etc.

Thats an awsome idea but how many out of 5 thousand some koukies, how many ones are left untouched? I was lucky to find this one becuase the shop owner thats was selling this one bought it off from and old man. Story went, The 45 year old year old school teacher and his wife ordered this koukie back in 97 brand new and hope to preserve its originality and sell it as a collectors 20 some years down the road making twice a profit. 14 years later his health turned on him and had to be kepted at the retirement home leaving the 240 sitting in his garage fully covered. I bought it right after the day he posted for sale :squintd:

Build your own!!!!! If you 7500 to spend you can build a boss s14.

When I build my s14 I spent

rolling s14 se shell clean title z32 brakes complete only missing motor. $(1600)
Sr20 motor complete $(1600)
Pbm coilovers $(1100)
Rims xxr $(600)
Had a complete running car for about 5-6k

97 green non sunroof auto se 135k - $4200
98 black 5 speed non sunroof se 140k (coilovers and 18 inch battles) - $5500

Don't over pay for a base model. There are plenty of cars out there.

Take that $7500 and find a 350z. Get a head start on the next bandwagon.

FUUUUUCK THAT!!! I cant do that on principle alone when I paid $12.5k for my first S14 with 26k, from a dealer, in 2001.

I paid $2500 for my current S14.

Obviously the guy doesn't just wany 'any' car or he'd get a 350Z. He wants a kouki.

I don't know who said it in a comment above mine but I'd rather bay $7000 for a kouki with a totally stock engine before I'd shell out the same amount for an SR.

Another thing to consider is the paint. Everyone on here thinks paint is inexpensive or easy to do. It's not...not if you get it done the right way.

Stock engine (maintained) + fresh paint = $$$ saved in the long run.

OP I guess what I'M saying is if the paint is clean, the engine is stock, and he'll put the stock seats back in it's worth $6500-$6600. With those seats I'd go $7000 if he throws in the stockers with the sale.

thanks guys for all the input and for no one flaming me for being new here.
Im waiting for him to reply for the 6k offer with the stock rims, so we will just have to wait and see.

Now I did some research ( through the search function) and to back up what I read.......
The base model S14 does not come with a LSD or even an VLSD. It'd be an open diff, correct?

$6k is still wayyyyyyyyy too much.

The drift tax is strong in this one. Where is the JDM?

the only reason I'd go 6k is because I'm going into college and something stock that I could tastefully mod throughout my time in college while maintaining reliability is key.
Now if i do get the car for 6k, first thing I would do is to rebuild the head and block with either oem parts or atleast forged internals, bigger injectors etc. to support a turbo.
but the turbo will have to wait for awhile.

it will be a good learning experience

there are much better options out there for $6k.. if you're not in the position to mod your car, don't blow so much of it on something that's been artificially inflated.
