Has anyone ever seen or heard of someone doing this?

I'm just curious and please don't flame. I'm not the most knowledgeable when it comes to Nissan. I've been a BMW guy for a very long time and I thought this would be a cool swap.

My logic is if you can fit a 1j or an rb in a 240 and an e36 or e30 an m50 could possibly work in a s13.

I'm assuming custom mounts would be required I just want to see if anyone out there has done it.

Thanks guys!

Thought at first the m50 was the v10 out of the m5 e60 which I would love to have in an s13 but I highly doubt it would fit.

Regarding an m50 though I'm sure you could make it fit, it would definitely need custom motor tranny mounts and also a custom driveshaft and depending how far the tranny sits back it might now line up with the shifter hole. I've never seen one of these engines personally so I can't compare but it could also possibly require modding of the firewall/tranny tunnel to fit.

provided it fits under the hood anything can be done if you are willing to work for it.

no engine pics, but it sounds like a bmw 6 to me. iono, anything is do-able with time, money, and effort.

i wanted to do this but finding a m50 locally is hard plus the 6 spd trans ecu and harness are hard to find unless you buy a bmw and remove it but that just be stupid unless it was totaled. my cuz had a 01 325i and that thing can pull and it smooth

Well dang. I googled it and it only came up with bmw part numbers. That's awesome. Now I really want to do that. I have access to M50s all day so all I need is a shell! Sweet! That video is awesome.

M50s are beast motors. Maybe I could go full retard and get an s52 lol

M50 is the 2.5l inline from the 325i. Not a bad motor, has good torque. But you will not get good power unless you boost it. If rebuilt they actually make very good motors. For boost, the m52(2.8 liter) is the best. they can all be had for around $800 dollars. and that is with everything.

For an m52 yes. But m50s can be had much cheaper. The usdm spec m/s5x is all based off the same block. So an m50 is nearly as good with boost as an m52. And n/a you can get them to around 250-270 hp. Which is not bad.

The V12 fits in an S13, although you are going to need some work for the headers.

It still is not a good idea to drop one in though. Unless you like super heavy front end cars.

I have no plans to put a v12 in an s13. At the most I would want an m60 v8. But I think an m50 would be best.

there was one bmw v12 s13, I think it was just a show car though. Those motors are too goddamn tall.

I'm assuming you have cheap and easy access to these motors and that is why you are interested in this.

I'm researching exactly the same idea - M52 or M54 BMW engine (2.8 or 3.0) into my daily driven S13, and then add some turbo.
Seems not many (if anyone) have done it though

M50 came with 5sp getrag and is an i6 engine. M52 came in the 328s, can be boosted to all hell due to low compression and thicker sidewalls. Throw in MLS head gasket, arp head bolts, s52 cams and tune = badass power. Currently looking at dropping an s52 3.2 into an s13 with the help of a fellow bmw gear head. There are no wire diagrams or any information on how to do it. But I plan to be the first in my area to make it happen.

The e36 engine harness is tricky lots of variance between the years. In my honest opinion, its not worth the effort to swap them into the s chassis. Packaging is dreadful enough in the e36, terrible in the e30... I can't event imagine trying to make it fit in an s13 with the factory tilt to the engine.

The M series Bmw engines M50/52 and even the earlier USDM Spec S52 motors are great power houses in NA format, but they are incredibly expensive to run, modify and replace parts with.

it can be done, if you are a bmw fan and love them that much yes.
But in light of other Iron Inline 6 engines (1j/2j) it's not a viable swap. especially since you can take an IS300 2j with the W trans and pretty much drop it in place in the 240.

this also comes froma guy who has owned both an S13 and S14 and an e36 M3 (and I do miss my M3 alot.... alot alot)

m50 and m50tu is a waste of time and money. At the very least do an s50, s52's cost around $1500-2000 dollars now.

Or just put an m52 in it and boost it.
