this is a little off main topics here, but i heard you guys are knowledgable with nissan.
my sister has a 2004 nissan sentry SE-R 2.5l, CEL light came on the other day so we took it to our mechanic, he says it is the catalytic converter.

What he told me is that they are 750 a pop and that there is 2 of them that need replacement.

How accurate does this sound?
How do i check the code myself if i have a OBD2 scanner? Where do i find the ecu?
Thanks for feedback.

You dont need to find the ECU to check the code, you plug your scanner into the consult plug. No clue where the plug is tho...

You should go ask in Sentra forum...

look under the dash on the driver side. scan it for codes and record what they are. clear the codes and scan it again as soon as the CEL pops back on. if the same codes pop up, look them up on yahoo. if it is for catalytic converter, you can buy aftermarket converters for about $180-$250. the weld ons are cheaper than bolt ons because obviously you have to get them welded on. sometimes bad oxygen sensors will trigger a cat. converter code also. and you don`t need both of them, only the cat with the sensors before and after it, usually the front one.
