hmm...there was a thread about a month or two ago about funny comments and questions about our cars. like on a fastback - "why is that probe made by Nissan?" or for a s14 - "put a silvia conversion on that thing man!"

NO. I've had people ask me WHAT my car was, I had some dumbass think it was a corvette, I've had people think it was a probe, and I've had a million people think it was front wheel drive, and a few cops have written me tickets for "Datsun 240."
But no one dumb enough to mistake it for a skyline.

No. Nobody I talk to, though, realizes it is a RWD.

The drag strip by us counts RWD like a power adder. So, for 4-cyl N/A, I can't run. Its only FWD 4-cyl. I have to run against 4 cyl FWD + one power adder (ie. turbo, nitrous, s/c, or even 6-cyl FWD). When I line up in that class people come up to me... "Hey buddy. Your class is next."

... Um... NO, moron. I'm running in this class.

"Oh? I didn't think you had any NAAWWWWS on that thing."

I don't. Its RWD.

"For real? No. I thought those Mazda's were FWD"

wow... a s13 doesn't even remotely resemble a skyline. i'm surprised anyone could make that mistake. a s14 kouki maybe if they're your average joe, but not a s13.

i get asked the SR question twice. once by a late 90s turbo'd prelude SH guy (really nice guy) and once by one of my undergraduate friends (super casual enthusiast). luckily for me, it seems most people around here dont know jack about 240s. it might as well be a camry.

I've had hella people call it a Z....pisses me off. My damn dad refers to it as a "240zx" ...I corrected him like 3 times,then I was just like eh fuck it whatever....I've had a guy try to tell me that the NISSAN 240SX is just an old Datsun 240z put back into production for people who want an inexpensive sports car,...:duh:

My dad has called a 1G DSM a 240 before....he was like "HEY LOOK THERES ONE OF THEM THINGS LIKE YOU GOT"...:doh:..

I get asked the sr once in a while, but its usually just casual racing friends asking if I'm planning to do the swap or what, nobody thats like "that car is slow without the sr" never got asked skyling but if I was a coupe.... the s13 coupe and r32 skylines do share some likenesses if you've only seen an r32 in picture.

i never truly realized how similar the s14 and the r33 were until i saw these pictures taken at the ohio nissan meet. of course the rears are completely different but i can easily see how someone with an untrained eye could mistake them.

thats my 95 240 and my friends 95 r33 gtr.

the question i always get asked is the typical, 'you got dat EESSS-ARRRR engine in there?'. it is always with the enunciation on the 'R' as well :duh: .
