well, since my best friend has a s13 with a red-top and runing 12 psi, i've gotten to take it around the block a couple of times. yeah its realitivly quick compared to most other cars on the street. i happened to see that our local dodge/ford dealer had a couple of the srt-4's on the lot. a buddy of mine works there and we started talking about cars and such as he convinced me to test drive it. Motha' Fizz'ucker... that car really hooks up and is incredably fast in stock form. for $300 you can upgrade for a larger set of 570cc injectores and an added chip to the ecu to adjust the fuel curve. i'm told that gives you an extra 10-15 horses. mopar has a line a products that are add ons that make your srt-4 a complete street terror without voiding any part of the warranty. for $21,000 i can get leather, all power, and a 7 year 75,000 warranty, which all of that sounds good to me. personally, i'ma stick another 5 or 6 grand in my car, have a stock sr, look nice, but no power anything... deteriorating interior, and other annoying parts going out. don't get me wrong, i'll still keep my 240, but who else thinks its a good idea. BTW, Dodge doesn't make the motor that is in the srt-4. I'm told its a spin-off of the 4g63/evo motor..

Nothing against FWD or even Dodge, but all I hear is how fast these cars are, and how much power they have, no one ever really comments about handling and such. I have always wondered if it's a well balanced car (ala Civic & Integra Type R, both are FWD and put out a decent amount of power). Then again, I can recall less then a handful of domestic cars that are actually well balanced, most only put out massive power at the sacrifice of handling and other areas.

Also, power everything...? If I recall (I'm not sure), doesn't the car come with power front windows and roll up rears?

:eek2: ~550hp which peaked at around 5-5.5krpms. hmm. i didn't know it was a 2.4L, appears to share the characteristics of a 2.4 ka which makes peak hp around those rpms.

A guy I know ran a 14 flat in stock form! Thats just rediculous. I really like those cars. They are a great bang for your buck, and a perfect drag car. Thats what that car was made to do, which is why most people on this board probably arn't fans of the car.

Get what ever you want. Dont cry about your interior falling apart because that will happen in the Neon. Everyone I know has had their interior fall to pieces within 3 years. Hell my friend bought a new neon (not the SRT-4) and within a week the passenger side inner door panel fell off when he opened the door!! LOL!! The SRT-4 may have better interior quality but I highly doubt it. Yes they are the best bang for the buck out right now. If you want speed sure...... if you want resale value, longevity (dsm motors dont), overall quality and exterior looks (imho), do not buy one. They are too new for anyone to tell how long they will last.

Just because its a Neon doesnt mean it sucks. Hasnt the suspention/handling been improved? Even though its FWD it is a nice car, ive ridden shotgun in one and that thing can make some moves. But then again, when i go KAT id blow that things doors off. ^.^

Anyways the only thing that matters in a car is the shell you start with...

The engine can be made into anything you want.

Thats why I dont think I will ever buy a new car. When I can make a car however I want.

my friend has one and we race all the time, our cars are even....and he was running 18psi with 103 or 104 octane race gas and i kept up with him running stock sr at stock 7.5 psi boost with a 3 inch exhaust and an intake....so i would definately choose the 240 cuz its a heck of a better car....but if u like to just buy new cars and waste all that money go for it...ive put like 5 grand in my car total and his car like a 20g car....plus mods....hmmm if i put 15g's in my car i would own anybody....shit... i beat so many cars that are 40 grand....i mean cmon so sad if speed is what u want....build it dont buy it

Any car can perform like a rare sports car... its always about the looks.

And dont think I'm all hyped up on a 240sx... Its just my current shit box.

This will be the car I drive in the next few years.

I have seen a Geo Metro with a 454 big block pushing 500hp... Would you want that to? Still looks lame...

one of the fastest cars i ever saw in person was the dodge neon drag car that pulled an 8 1/4 mile w/ like 860 hp....it was auto and fwd

so you hate on old school classic cars too? how about datsan dimes, datsan 210s, 240z, 280zs? many people would say those cars looks lik shit, but many car lovers and performance enthusiast would give props to those cars that are restored or are nicely tuned/modified.

Stock SR = 205fwhp. And exhaust.. 220fwhp, or 190-ish wheel hp. Stock SRT-4 is 230fwhp/250tq. SRT-4 at 18psi is stage 2, because nobody in their right mind would add a boost controller and void a warranty when you could pay $1300 and keep the warranty. Stage 2 dyno at 265wheel hp and 280 ft/lbs of torque. A SRT-4 is lighter than a s13, and gets the jump on the launch. You lose, internet street racer. Or your friend really, REALLY blows at driving.

Years ago my plan was to see if a 502 would fit in a Gremlin/Pacer... I guess I"m just all about hte performance... looks being a very distant second. I'd rather have a metro that can blow the doors off a ferarri any day! Cheaper insurance, no one is gonna steal your shit, and you can blow the doors off of anything on the road (in a straight line anyhow).

No offfense to any of you out there. but i dont take anyone's opinion seriously about cars that doesnt think like me.

for example I find that if you have a body kit on your car before it's the shit, i find it to be funny/pathetic. But it's cool. you probably dont care what i think about you anyways. plus if you dont mod your car and dust my ass on the track with your stock s13 and your body kit i will give you much props.

driving a FWD car is so lame. It feels shitty and even if its powerful, you just cant get it sideways, which is the most fun IMO.

If your (im talking about RED mainly) talking about how easy it is throwing $$ at a car to make it perform better, but the looks matter the most??? that makes no fucking sense. When your in the car what are you doing. DRIVING IT. are you looking at how sweet your little fiberglass bumpers look? NO, are you checkin out the non-existant functionality of your farbon ciber mirrors? FUck no. Your driving the car and controlling the power you have to play with, even if it isint 200+ hp. either way, if you start with a good platform (rwd, nice suspension setup, etc {240!}) then it isint hard to make it look good, if thats what you really want. Throwing an entire new shell that looks like a McLaren over a 240 chassis would be cheaper than getting a 200hp metro to handle like the 240, or any real car for that matter. And no, you will not be driving that yellow thing you showed us a pic of out of a magazine.

Um, my friend has an SRT-4 and we are dead even at the strip, he is slightly faster through first, and then I pull in 3rd and it evens right out. Our best times were [email protected] for me and [email protected] for him. He is BONE STOCK, on STOCK tires.
My RSX-S had intake/shit shorty header/hondata and removed axleback for that run.
Also, to those who think they don't handle well, you are sadly mistaken. That car stock whoops on the road course and is a blast to drive, has surprisingly minimal torque steer and is predictable at the limit. All of you RWD fanboys need to smarten the fuck up and go out and drive a few more cars. Yes there are better cars out there than the JdM TyTe 240 yO. Please dont' start telling me that 240 race cars are great blah blah blah, any car can be made to go quickly.
And YES I sold my RSX-S and got a 240 (that is almost running) now all of you whiners stfu.

It's impossible to compare a stock srt4 with a stock sr powered 240sx, mainly because there's NO way the 240sx is going to have NO other mods than the SR.
