ok so this is kinda crazy, i bought a car and the kid before me should be sent to ase school to learn to work on cars he totally jacked up everything, which i guess has been giving me the practice I need on my car lol..
well he relocated the battery using a monster amp cable.. ( i had a draw) tha was killing the battery.. I thought I had fixed it but when I put the new 2g power wire in the car and connected it to the battery now all my indglow stuff comes on as if you turned the nob one click on the steering colum but not enough to turn lights on.. anyone know what could be causing this? why does it seem its bypassing a relay? I'm so confused at this point.. I had to remove the viper alarm system because it was causing issues as well.. I'm just not sure what else I can do tofigure this out.. wiring to me is a nightmare so any help would be great.. also he never mounted teh battery in the trunk where would the best place be to mount it thanks guys!!!!

Make sure you are using the same gauge for the ground wire.

what kind of vehicle do you have?
why was battery moved to trunk? intercooler piping in the way?
how it the 2AWG wire running from positive battery terminal in the rear connected to the front portion where power is distributed to starter, fuse box etc? is there a distribution block or such?
how good are battery connections and ground connection/ is the battery ground also a large wire? are ALL connections clean?
this is a start. I need more info

its a 89 nissan 240sx se model, rhd conversion. Yes battery moved to trunk because of Ic piping... I got copper connector I soldered the connector to a the wire then connected it to where the positive end would have wnt on to the battery inside engine bay.. the ground wire is the stock ground and is connected to a secure ground in trunk (where spare tire would be) all connections are clean of any residue.... could it be the ground is to small?

have you consulted the fsm to see if everything is how its supposed to be? photos of the set up would help your cause, also

is the paint removed where the ground is connected? because thats a very good idea
and a pic of the connection you soldered would be good. i am not exactly understanding what you did. tho it is very simple what needs to be done.
EDIT: i doubt it is the new cable, but a connection you re-did is not up to par

If the battery is in the trunk/hatch, you should be using 0 gauge battery cable for that, no thinner. It has a longer distance to travel to the engine, and you can't sacrifice any resistance there.
The engine bay connection looks a little weak. I took a large bolt and made sure everything necessary was attached before tightening a lock washer and nut on it. Make sure to weather-proof it entirely. Don't want that shorting out on the fender-well or hood.
Make sure all connections are corrosion free and that you have a solid ground. I've got my battery in my hatch, and it's grounded less than a foot away on a bolt that goes through both the hatch bed and frame. And most important, if you're going to have the battery in the rear, wire up a circuit breaker 6-12 inches away from the + wire, in case anything shorts out or gets severed in an accident, this will save your car from an inferno.

i got most of that but I'm not going to do that till after i find a place to mount it..it still doesn't make sense how it's turning the ambers on.

the 0 AWG statement is not true, a high quality 4AWG will work fine. I speak from plenty of experience. HIGH QUALITY does not mean cheap
how bout this get a DMM and test voltage and that connection you made up front, also check voltage at the battery.
you need to do some real tests now to find the source of your problem.

that i get trust me the power wire isn't cheap only place i could find it was a napa store made specially for this at 4.50/ft weather water and so forth resistant... I have a volt meter I'll ahve to start checking.. this is a brand new battery last one had a bad cell.. now that i think about it didn't do it with the bad battery and bad wire? but he had the wire just wrapped around the connection under the hood.. i actually did it right i thought maybe I'll try connecting it to the other side s its not so close to those connectors in the red peice..

Get back to me with
1) voltage reading across the battery terminals
2) voltage from positive terminal to bolt where your ground is in the wheel well
3) from positive connection under hood to known good ground (such as on the intake manifold)

1. Make sure you are not receiving a volt drop from your battery to the alternator
2. make sure all your connections are sound from your Alt. to Battery and all of your grounds.
you could be having a problem with your charge harness from your alternator to your battery, make sure those wires are good also

finally got out
cars been sitting without running or anything for a little bit but heres what i got
1. 12.58 from pos to neg terminal
2. 12.58 from pos to ground in trunk.
3. 12.12 and going down from under hood to good ground intake mani ( ambers are on so it keeps going down) when wire is touching pos
