k i went to see this 240 and obviously the paint was a little harsh. but that was to be expected.
the bastards did warm the car up before i saw it so i didn't know about the cold start up but i do know that it took a few turns to get the motor started. the motor did shake but i figure that's from motor mounts. do they go bad often? is it all that bad of an ailment that i couldn't wait about a year with them until i get a swap?
the other thing i noticed was that it makes some black smoke when you "get on it". it was bad initially but it calmed down as i had romped on it. it seemed to happen when my fiancee first hit on the throttle and then it went away as she climbed in the revs.
the clutch held pretty well and didn't slip when in fifth gear at full throttle.
there was a small crack in the wind shield. the interior is pretty good but the stereo is shot to ####, won't work.
so here's the final thought. the guy claims he has 1700 in it. would you guys buy this car? i mean obviously i'm not looking for a fricking perfect car, i understand some flaws but should i be worried about the smoke coming out of the exhaust? is there anything else i should look for if i go back for a second look? thanks alot guys and gals... peace...
What year is it? How many miles? 1700 doesn't sound bad, but I dono if that exhaust thing is normal for older cars or not.

the other thing i was wondering was do you think i could make this stock motor last another year? or shoud i just go ahead and replace it with a stock motor for cheap until i can afford a swap. i'm probably going rb20det, but it's going to take a year or so to get the funds together... prolly longer knowing the way i am with money hehe.

They wiggle a bit at starting, stiff ass chassis, no harmonic balancer. 1700 isn't bad for it.Getting a year is fully possible, but impossible to guage.

Dog, if I was you, I would shop around before settling down with that car. I guess like a million people would say, it doesnt matter about the miles but to me it does. And all the crap that you been saying about the car sounds like it could be a lemon. Don't go buying somethign and then wasting mega bucks to fix when you can use say $2500 or so and get a nice, low mileage car without problems. Think about it.

burning oil is usually a sign of bad routine maintenance. i wouldnt be suprised if it also has bad brakes and pretty much everything else is falling apart. i dunno, it just doesnt sound like all that great of a deal, because its probably not just the engine falling apart. with condition like this i would suggest having a mechanic check it out, maybe from a nissan dealership, it should only cost you like $25 for them to just go over it real quick and find any obvious problems, then give you a good idea of what they think of it

i'm going back tomorrow and getting the thing checked over by a mechanic. hopefully the guy won't have run the car before i am there so it won't be warmed up. that way i'll beable to judge it from a clean sheet. i don't need a fast car i just need a car fast... i could deal with a few failing systems believe me, i've driven a honda with an extremely modified motor... i'm used to things going bad <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>. i'll keep you informed...

Just tell the guy you'll be at the place at a certain time, then show up early, and check out the cold start

You can proubly find a another 240 lower miles better condition I would keep looking i paid 1200 for my 90 240sx 145000m but a month later the motor blew too bad i didnt know anything about 240's i had the money then to do a SR swap instead i have a remanfactured motor and have to save up for SR swap or rebuild/turbo KA (got off topic alittle) anyways i would keep looking if i was you

if you spend 1200 on a crappy car, probabbly in the first year you would have paid 2500 on it if you have to repair alot of crap, cheap is not always better, not with a car that old. You get what you pay for
