So you're saying you just pulled them out of the box and slapped them on without adjusting preload or putting anti-seize on anything or checking to make sure all the bolts are tightened correctly, and you're surprised they aren't adjusted properly?
That being said, I'm pretty sure if I adjusted my coilovers to a 2 finger gap on the coils, I'd have 3 inches of wheel gap too.

Common dude do I really gotta explain that and how I scratch my balls on the process..
Like I said I usually hand tighten the preload when the spring feels like it has play. This spring didn't have play. I was basically trying to figure out how to tell if its on 0 preload.
I'm running 17s not 14" wheels I'm not expecting to be tucking and oil pan on floor. Btw.
Thanks for the help I guess

if you usually hand tighten the preload then why didnt you this time?
the procedure is no different if they come too tight or too loose.

i don't know if this helps but the dampers on the new gen are different. i have gen ones and snapped the damper from the top hat. i bought a replacement damper and it is different. so maybe that is why the gap is different.
as for preload some companies preload them, some do not.

Your probably rite I thinks my whole question of to this thread now is how to tell when it's a at 0 preload just how pbm suggest them .
Or if some one can tell me how many inches is it from the top collar to the bottom thread should be that be great.

No.... The question for this thread should be, what is preload? Then moved to the small questions thread.

I'll measure it tomorrow for you. Assuming my preload is set correct. I'm not a suspension master
