I need something bigger with better gas mileage so I decided to sell my rx7. The motor has approximately 16k on a rebuild from a reputable rotary shop(can provide receipt) along with 23k on rebuilt OEM twin turbos. Since I acquired the car in Sept, I have done quite a bit of maintenance and some reliability mods:
-coolant flush with redline additive
-new fuel filter
-FC 95 degree thermoswitch (keeps the engine running cooler)
-Pettit AST
-New Viton check valves
-Defi Din gauges $600 (High quality Japanese-made gauges displaying oil pressure, oil temp and coolant temp.)
-Prosport boost gauge
-Full 3 inch downpipe and exhaust with RX7 Store high flow cat with working air pump
-'99 spec lip purchased new from Corksport
-Custom ducting for optimum intercooler cooling
-Suede dash mat (prevents dash from cracking from sun/heat)
Some of the mods the car came with:
-Stance coilovers
-Enkei RPF1 wheels 17x9 +45 all around with 255/40r17 Hankook RS-3 tires all around (a lot of tread)
-HKS SSQV bov
-Koyo radiator
-Goodridge stainless brake lines/Motul blue fluid/Hawk HPS pads/brembo rotors
-Racing Beat stainless single cat back exhaust (discontinued)
-99 spec tail lights
-Alpine CDE-135BT
-Viper alarm with keyless entry and remote start
The car has a clean title and runs extremely well. Stock twins spool and pull hard to redline. I have also been premixing the gasoline to preserve the apex seals while leaving the stock OMP (oil-metering pump) intact as I really wanted to leave this car as stock and street-able as possible. The car is garaged daily, washed/waxed regularly and maintained meticulously (oil changes every 2500 miles with full synthetic oil).
Some cons: 5th gear grinds a bit(very common for US spec FD's) I usually never grind it if I rev-match and the a/c needs to be recharged
Asking 14k OBO- No Trades. I am not in a rush to sell. It's hard to find these cars in good shape cosmetically and mechanically that will still pass smog so I don't mind hanging on to it. PM me for contact info.

I always read it wasnt wise to run synthetic oils in a rotory since they inject oil into the cylinders. Didnt mazdatrix say something like that? Gorgeous car. I've always had a huuuuge soft spot for the FD.

That was an issue with the earlier synthetic oils that didn't have very good lubrication. The synthetic oil today is much better
I premix 1/2 oz of twc-3 rated 2 stroke oil per gallon of gas for extra protection

This is definitely one of the cleanest FDs on the market right now, I really want another one but I have a feeling this isn't going to be available when I sell my car.
For anyone considering an RX-7, this would be the one to buy. Close to stock and in mint condition.

Yeah I know there are other FD's going for 15,16,17k without a chance in hell passing smog but there are some things that need addressing that I forgot to mention like the 5th gear having the common small grind and the a/c needing recharging. (updated original post)

That is common, my 95 r2 had the same issue and it only has 38k miles...

WRONG! Synthetic oils do NOT burn cleanly like Dino oil. They tend to leave deposits and residue that foul plugs. I wouldn't be surprised if the motor had some nasty deposits depending on how long you've been using synthetic.

Care to show us some sources backing up uour claim? Because I've heard the complete opposite that synthetics leave the same if not less ash deposits than Dino oils.

Rotary Tech Tips: Synthetic Oils And The Rotary Engine (http://www.racingbeat.com/mazda/performance/rotary-tech-tips/synthetic-oils.html)
"In the late 90’s, we began testing Royal Purple Synthetic Oil. In the very first test, this oil added more than 1% HP on a highly developed race engine. Since then, we have been using Royal Purple Synthetic Oils and have seen similar improvements and more in other applications, along with low wear and reduced operating temperatures"

"Royal Purple provides outstanding protection for the e-shaft, rotor bearings and thrust bearings and is suitable for the oil injection system as it has proven to run cleaner than other oils and is an excellent choice for rotary apex seals, corner seals and side seals."

Royal Purple FAQ | Synthetic Motor Oil Questions Answered (http://royalpurpleconsumer.com/why-rp/faqs/#tab-rotary-engine)
"Royal Purple’s motor oil burns cleaner due to its synthetic base stock being free of contamination and the fact that many of its additives are ‘ashless’. This may not be true for all synthetics but Royal Purple has been proven to work extremely well in rotary engines."

I'm pretty sure the front rotor has lost compression or whatever reason >. Very strange because it was running flawlessly up until Friday. I do not want to spend anymore time and money on the car so I'm willing to sel it for $10,500 as-is without the defi gauges(gonna use them on another car)
The car still runs and drives but misfires at idle even after changing the spark plugs. PM me if interested.

That's the best answer I've read so far. Synthetic can be used in the rotary, granted that you have an SOHN adapter with premix for your lubrication. Otherwise, you're just gonna (quoting what I read in the interwebz) clog your CAT and kill your 13B. I got my Remanufactured RENNY for my RX-8 11,000+ miles ago after 168,305 miles on my factory engine lost compression. I've always used 5W-20 and premixed with TC-W3 in my first but now stepping it up with a 10W-30 and use Idemitsu Premix.

Have you replaced the ignition coils? New plugs and still misfire always mean bad ignition. Lucky 7 Racing offers an LS2 Ignition Coils for FDs. Very strange if it has less than 20k in it's rebuilt engine.
