i searched and found one thread regarding this. but i have an external auto trans cooler from an expedition that was going to the scrap yard and was wondering if i could use this as an oil cooler. i know oil is thicker, but these lines are pretty good sized. anyone have any experience with this?

It doesn't matter. You could run your oil through your radiator if you wanted.

yes you can use it, but depending on it's design will determine where you mount it.
Then size of the lines shouldn't matter as long as they are not to big, or too few of rows.
