Hello guys,

My name is Chris and I live in Southern California. I have been lurking around this site for about 1 month now and thought I should make my first post since I am closer than ever to getting a s13. I am currently driving a very sexy 90 300zx (z32) Non-Turbo and while I do love my Z to death, I am currently looking for a daily driver (since the Z is so expensive just in general). I have been searching and searching for a good deal on a s13 5-speed and finally I may have found the vehicle I am looking for. It is a 90 240sx 5-speed, 175,000 miles, original owner seller (met him at a Nissan dealership while he was picking up his Maxima from getting its maintenance, I work at a Nissan dealership btw... so seeing his maintenance bill is a good sign) black in color and the a/c actually blows cold. The body is true and straight with what he says "pretty good" paint which I am sure he is understating...I intend to buy it for 2 grand and he sounds ok with that. A few questions: Is this a good deal? Is there anything in particular I should look for on the vehcle (as far as common problems pertaining to the 90 240sx)...and any other advice you guys have would be great...btw it has no sun-roof and has manual windows and such (which I know is how all the drifters like em, hehe...). So thanks for your input guys....

p.s. I know the general thinks I would look for like rust and such...but in their any general common problems with the 90 s13 that it is notoriously known for.

p.s.s I have search but quite frankly their is just waaaaayy to information and while I have acquired some info, I still want a general consensus for the members here.....Thanks everyone!
Hopefully if all goes well my Z will have a baby brother :-)
I'm am pretty excited..heh.

p.s.s Attached should be a picture of my Z. Thanks for looking.

Props for lurking first and learning what's what.

probs with the 89-90...
- SOHC engine ;) hehee
- TC rod bushings
- timing chain maintinience (or is that issue DOHC only?)
- old shocks
- leaky trunk
- pignose front end ;)
- it's 14 years old :( it'll need some work... 175k is a lot

you should consider taking your own advice. you've started 36 threads in the past day that are common knowledge and have been discussed a thousand times on this site.

nice z32... i love the way the old zs look. hmm 2000 for a 90 with 175k... sounds a little pricey to me, but prices in our areas may be different. see if you can't talk it down some.

if it was well cared for and the body and interior are in good shape. $2000 isn't bad for a single owner car.

I paid $4000 for my 92' with 90K miles cause it was immaculate except for a couple small dings.

does the driver seat have a hole in the fabric. if not then you could probably sell the seat for 2 mil. well maybe not. Thats a notorious problem but then again it really doesnt affect a damn thing. I bought mine for 700, a 91 hatchback. everything about it is perfect with the exception of rust. im up in mich and bought it from new york. the guy babied it but obviously it was his winter salt eating daily driver. I would gladly pay the extra 1300 to have a completely rust free car. Ive always wanted to build my sr and do it the right way, but with my car as is, i think of it as a beater and I doubt it will hold much longer so im gonna just do basic sr crap and hope for the best. oh well I guess rust is better than having a cop say, HI. I will be taking your dreams away from you today. say buh buy to your precious motor. so basically not the best deal but worth it if its in the right condition.

I bought my 89 for $1000, It's got a straight body, and an immaculate interior, but the suspension is rough, as long as your's rides o.k., I'd say it's worth it. Mine's gonna take around 6 bills to get the kinks out, not to mention the sweat....
