Just got an 89 single cam s13 running. Ran perfect for a week, threw it around some corners in the rain and it drove fine.
Took it to go eat after throwing it around some more corners because it was raining. Came outside and started it, it ran for a seconds then died. Tried to start it again and it would stumble but wouldnt start. Now all we get is the starter cranking the engine but it wont fire besides some small little burps coming out of the exhaust.
Also its throwing a code 45 and code 123, Checked the injectors and they arent leaking anywhere the is visible from the outside. Pull the rail and tested them the ghetto way of just trying to start it with them out, They all sprayed. We also tried starting fluid straight into the intake manifold. no luck.
Plugs are sparking, brand new cap, brand new rotor inside cap...
Right now we took out the spark plugs and we are letting it air out.
Anyone have any advice?
Once again, Car cranks but will no fire.
Has spark and fuel.
Throwing codes 123 and 45, but no leaking injector visible.
Anyone have any ideas as to why it wont fire?

What do those codes mean? If you definitely have spark and fuel maybe it's your ecu or a cam or crank sensor if that engine has one.

I'd look into the MAF sensor. Try unplugging it to see if it changes anything.
To have spark, and to have fuel usually puts it at the MAF being at fault as you know the distrubutor is at least working as it sparks/and tells ECU to squirt fuel.

Yea i unplugged it and still no dice.... put in a distributor from the 240 we swapped the engine from along with the ignition coil and still wouldn't fire.... I notice if i put my hand next to the tailpipe it will get "burps" of exhaust. (don't know any other way to describe it)
Will most likely test compression tomorrow but i doubt it has anything to do with compression as it was just running the other day...

You said you have spark and fuel...so the distributor is working...as that's what makes the ECU squirt fuel.
Did you try spraying it with ether to see if it starts?

Hey thanks for your replies. Found there was 0 compression in all cylinders. Although the car was running perfect one second and not running the next -____- will either try replacing the headgasket/ look at the rods/pistons or just buy a ka24de.

zero compression on all 4 'just like that' is odd...is the valvetrain actually working?

Took off the valve cover and the cam was spinning and the lifters were doing their thing. Im over this car tho hahah it's for a friend and i believe he's just gonna get a dual-cam. like i said i believe its a head gasket issue.
If you put it in first and start it using the start it jump = tranny's good.
Im just stumped. Was hoping it was something small but i dont feel like doing all this work for a p.o.s single cam hahaha
