couldnt find many answers to this problem.

My rear wiper works intermittently on my 89 240sx Hatch. Im not sure if its electrical or mechanical. You push the button and the wiper stops int he middle of the glass. You can push it again and it will move up or down, depending on which way it was already going. but it only moves half way everytime and will sit there for a little bit before continuing. I can repeatedly hit the button and make it wipe, lol.

It sounds to me like it might have a controller and the arm is out of time. OR, the wiper motor needs to be rebuilt.

Opinions please.

check the wiring where it passes from the body of the car into the hatch, at the hinge area. I know 3 hatch owners who have had wires fray/break there and short out from bending so much over the years. It's an easy place to start diagnosis.

thank you very much. so theres no electronic controls on it? When i hit the button it should just wipe continuously and smoothly?

Seems everyone just shaves them off and its hard finding an answer, lol.

That's because getting rid of it IS the answer ;)

But seriously, it sounds like the gears in the motor are slipping. If it were a week ago, I would have sent you a free good-condish wiper motor... Unfortunately, it's at the city dump now.
