Hello,

I have a 1993 Nissan 240sx stock S13. I'm having trouble installing two new injectors on number 3 and 4 cylinders. I removed them pretty easily but now it has been very difficult to install the new ones. I coated the seals with a little motor oil but i am unable to get the injector fully seated or installed. I saw a youtube video for 240sxtech where the mech was able to do it rather easily. But for some reason no matter how much i push down it won't go in and "pop" or "snap" in place.

If anyone has any help, tips or suggestions on how they did please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Put the cap on and screw it down to force it in lol

motor oil sounds fine, but i have never heard of anyone using that before. might want to try something like vasaline or even some petroleum based chapstick like carmex would do the job.
like towlie said, get them in as far as you can by hand and try to get the injector cap screwed on. once the bolts for the injector cap have started to engage in the rail, you can set the injector in by screwing down the injector cap the rest of the way. just be careful not to pinch an o-ring in the process.

Thanks, I'll give that a try.

Btw, here's the video link I mentioned where motor oil is suggested: www.240SXTECHDVDS.org 240sx KA24DE SIde Feed Injector Install.mp4 - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxrhkdob0B8)

I generally use Vaseline on mine. Recently, I was in a pinch & used GP (not gritty at all, the purplish pink stuff) grease to pop them in.

Thanks, the vaseline idea worked great. Now I seem to have a new problem. The car has white smoke coming out and runs very rough. Seems like the engine is missing. It is rough to start (have to use gas pedal) and stalls on its own after a while. I've read that it could be vapor lock or too much fuel maybe a pinched o-ring. I had put new plugs and now they have carbon build up on them. Let me know if anyone has experience with this issue. Thx.

Yep, sounds like you tore the o-ring on the injector.

Edit: When you put on a new o-ring, put a little motor oil on it and when you push down to pop it into the rail, also slightly twist as you're doing it. This has helped me in the past.

Thanks.
Does the small o-ring on the bottom tip usually gets pinched and go bad? Or the larger one?

I've seen o-ring kits for these injectors on Ebay. I imagine a hardware or auto parts store would have the same.

From my experience it is often the lower I ring that is damaged

vaseline kills the rubber o rings.

a light dab of synthetic grease will be good.

after that seat the injector and twist it side to side slightly until it pops in.

be careful not to pinch the o rings.

So i pulled the injectors and oddly enough the o-rings didn't seemed pinched. Unless they were slightly stretched or deteriorated and I couldn't notice. So I have new ones and I am going to re-install them. Is synthetic grease the best ? I've read conflicting threads where people swear by vaseline, synthetic grease, di-electric grease, motor oil, or even gasoline...
when you have used synthetic grease in the past, have you ever had an issue with the o-rings leaking? Thanks.

Does anyone know if synthetic lubricant is the same as synthetic grease? Thanks.
