well i've been on here for a while but never really made a build thread so here it goes...i do have an s13 wire tuck thread.
my 1st car.... my 1st build. all works done by me with my own bare hands and lotza sweat & hardwork! started back in 2008 and my build has been ongoing.....
car is a 92 s13 salvaged title lol bought off a chick that drifted it. cost me 2600 which i now realized i overpaid for it! needed new tires and a/c compressor was hanging. brown interiors with welded diff lol
1st day i got the car.....

http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/155/dsc02428f.jpg (http://img507.imageshack.us/i/dsc02428f.jpg/)
didnt know a thing about s13 till i actually went out in the garage and got dirty lol
got bored one day and decided i was going to make the bay look tucked! so there i went....
started with engine harness...

Saw this build thread over on ka-t, love it! I remember seeing your wire tuck thread, I'm extremely jelly of the cleanliness of this build. I'm currently working on a ka-t build right now. Question though, you said you built your own coolant overflow tank; where did you buy that little side sight? The one on my circuit sports broke.

not much update! talked to my machinist and went over few stuff on whats going to be done to block. head and crank. im not used to having someone do the work for me but machining is abit much too to get into...lol
anyways.....spent my thursday and rest of fridays electroplating tons of oem nuts, bolts, brackets.
im using a caswell copy cad
this my 1st electroplating and im very pleased how they came out!
1st thing i do with the nuts and bolt are bead blast em with either aluminum oxide or glass bead. i degreased em using caswell sp degreaser powder mixed with distilled water and heat up to 140-160f then soak 5-10mins. then they go on acid bath till the fizzing stops.
heres some nuts and bolts soaking on distilled water before plating to prevent rust flash.
http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/276/img2336bi.jpg (http://img571.imageshack.us/i/img2336bi.jpg/)
my setup. using an ebay 10amp max rectifier adjustable.
http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/2038/img2329h.jpg (http://img826.imageshack.us/i/img2329h.jpg/)

http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/706/img2328ta.jpg (http://img545.imageshack.us/i/img2328ta.jpg/)
you get a bright zinc finish. still need to dip em on either yellow iridescent or black chromate(which im going to nxt day off)

got to file fit the top rings @ .018 although, i wanted the bottom ring to be at .020 well that isnt the case. unfiled 3 of the rings had ring gap of .022 & one was right fileable. any thoughts why this would be? could wiseco sent me the wrong rings???or my machinist bored it out too much but i doubt it. i moved the rings around to see if they made any difference but it was the same 3 rings @ .022 and 1 @ tight cant remember exactly.

Great stuff man keep it up you will go places. I took autoshop in highschool too, my dad had a bunch of mud trucks growing up we always worked on as well. I only worked in junkyards and a shop that installed stereos, systems, big rims and lift kits. Hopefully after my KA-T build I can use it as a driving billboard of my work and get in a performance shop. Anyway you're doing it right man you get props bro!

not much update but finally done with valve adjustment. ordered few shims frm my local nissan dealer and took at least a week to get 6 shims. then i needed more for the exhaust side so i ordered some frm nissanparts.cc actually got them quicker than my local dealer considering their in Washington.
http://img42.imageshack.us/img42/706/ihvy.jpg (http://img42.imageshack.us/i/ihvy.jpg/)
anyways.....decided to give this shim tool i bought frm egay!supposedly its for toyotas. at 1st, i was like...damn! this thing works awesome. till i took out the cams out and noticed it was scratching the journals. polished em with 2k sandpaper hopefully it'll be fine!
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/504/a2q7.jpg (http://img94.imageshack.us/i/a2q7.jpg/)
http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/5434/sgxa.jpg (http://img90.imageshack.us/i/sgxa.jpg/)
i was stuck how to switch shims around quicker and not scratching the journals. so i decided to fabbed my own bucket/spring pushed-down out of 304 stainless steel flat bar.
http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/2025/ngmi.jpg (http://img856.imageshack.us/i/ngmi.jpg/)
http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/7241/cycx.jpg (http://img843.imageshack.us/i/cycx.jpg/)
it bolts on to one of the cam cap bolt and pretty much press down on the edge of the bucket and shims pops off easily.

not sure why but their the cheapest i found with ckworldwide stuff. customer service wasnt so good at 1st but when they replied it went smooth after that.
the welding table i bought off summit racing since i had 20off.

havent been productive lately with the build but guess you could say i got some work done!
checked the head mating surface for flatness, its good no warpage. thinnest feeler gauge i had was .0012" and used starrett 380-24 straight edge.
http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/7572/t884.jpg (http://img513.imageshack.us/i/t884.jpg/)
looks like i need to replace all the exhaust guides. checked valve deflection using dial indicator and they average around .015" oe limit is .008". intake side are around .005" so their good.
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5898/y5ry.jpg (http://img401.imageshack.us/i/y5ry.jpg/)
was going to make a DIY valve spring compressor but found this on amazon for a decent price made by neiko. its a universal and already tried it out and its works good.

Looking like a great build for sure.
I just skimmed through, but only saw the picture of the block back from machining. Did you have them deck the front timing covers when they did the block? Like take an equal thickness off of all parts. If not, you'll have a leak there where they meet. Just wanted to check before you get it all back together.
