View Full Version : Shoot Fire Out Your Exhuast

What are some ways or products out there that I need to make my car shoot fireballs out my exhaust?
I've seen a dual n1 off of a JDM rx-7 spittin' fireballs in a drift video; shiet was poppin' and looked amazing.
Thats a rotary, they do that.
I guess you can go fast and furious and get the ghetto flame thrower kit and put spark plugs at the tip of your exhaust. Or get a bee*r rev limiter, have a test pipe, and they say you can throw flames.

1. big turbo
2. atmospheric BOV
3. engine braking

I have a stock SR with open exhaust (no cats) and I shoot flames out the exhaust on any sort of engine braking.

remember, though, that if you do decide to make a "flame thrower" that most kits require a spark in the tailpipe + sending unburnt fuel through the exhaust system.
This is not a great idea on turbo cars. Its not the best maintenance for a turbo, if you catch my drift.
IF you are talking about the full on drift vehicles that spit flames out, then that is basically just a backfire. Please tell me you don't want to spit flames just because you saw it in a drift video. That is what we call "RICE"

haha, let the car do it on its own. To most people it just happens. It is not really a good thing, so I wouldn't push it and do something stupid.

my friend uses msd ignition to do the flame thing. i really have no idea how it works though. if you really want to know i can ask for you.

Bee*R rev limiter cuts the ignition, unlike a traditional limiter where it would cut the gas, this thing lets keeps the gas flowing and when it hits, it ignites whatever is in there, hence the pop/flame.
I have one, but yet to put it on, possibly might throw it on the Miata for the hell of it when it goes turbo next month.

I have a hollowed out cat, stock exhaust, and a crappy muffler. I shoot flames sometimes. I have it on tape :naughty:
Just backfire w/no cat and you're in business.

As long as you don't have a cat you can shoot flames.. it's just a matter of running rich. Hell you may even be able to pull it off with cats but I wouldn't reccomend doing it either way. It's just wasting fuel at the very least.

Get one of those exhaust spinner things. It looks like 2 fans inside some type of metal and it bolts to the exhaust manifold. The exhaust gas goes over one of the fans and that spins the other one which i THINK is hooked up to some cold air thing and then to the throttle body. Anyways, it makes the exhaust move faster by putting in more air somehow and it quiets down your exhaust noise. I think it also allows you to backfire if you get one tha is big enough. And and and and when you let off the gas it sounds like there is a turkey under the hood sometimes. Well mine does. Yah these things are cool. Anyone know what i am talking about? Or am i the only one with one? Coool. mine is JDM.

Isn't it like a mis-firing system? It like eliminates turbo spooling?

ok here is a video of my car spewing a pretty good size flame. im running a custom turbo setup with a open air BOV. its now recirculated

:) you've been watching too much initial D. the system you're thinking of used in wrc cars is called an anti-lag system. same shit as b4... unburned fuel ignites in the exhaust, keeping the turbo spooled between shifts; hence the pop out the back. street cars are not wrc cars. we don't get rebuilds after every session. if you want to put this on your car get ready to spend lots of money and replace your turbo very soon.

so iur saying that the anti-lag system is the same as the BEE*R rev limiter??? cause i was planing to get one but if it will fuck up my turbo i dont want it lol

No, an antilag turbo system makes spark and thus explosions after the exhaust valves but BEFORE the turbine wheel. So basically during off throttle, the system ignites the exhaust gas before the turbo, making it explode and spool the turbo so when the throttle is then applied the turbo is still at full or nearly full boost. Basically, unless those WRC cars are turned off and parked their turbos are never NOT spooling. Not a good idea for your daily driver.
Of course WRC is so secretive and changes so often this system may be outdated already. Haha.
thx247

Anti lag is a couple of things,
Retarded timing when driver lets off the throttle -30/40 degrees!
Increased Air/Fuel mixture
Spark plug fires as the exhaust valve opens
Most of the fuel/air is unburnt and burns in the exhaust manifold spooling the turbo.
Apparently you can get upwards of 1 bar with an agressive system.
All I can think of is the EGTs...ouch...

thanx for the help guys, i have read that a couple of times, i guess i jsut didnt know what the anti-lag system does so thats y i asked.
and the anti lag system seems just like a DIS ignition (waist spark), exept it adds more air and fuel air and fuel so that there is unburnt gasses?? right?
so if i had a car with DIS i could just run really rich and have lots o air and then i could have a home made anti-lag system?? :D lol

my sohc has been known to do it once in a while, my dad was following me around the first day i had the rebuild on the road, and every downshift that would put the motor around 5000-6000 would do it. He thougtht it waas funny as hell.
There are no emmsions equip on the car and a partial 3" exhaust, close to 11:1 compression.
As for a home made flamer kit, Just get an extra fuel injector, wire it up to an existing injector, attach a switch/relay, install it in the tailpipe along with a spark plug and coil. Then run a fuel line to the injector. Push the botton and it'll flame.
It would be too much work to do, but you wouldn't be sending raw fuel threw your motor, which isn't so nice on the cylinder walls and rings.

Exactly.
They make those kits that send raw fuel through the whole system (basically just like that BEE*R system). But, I just don't think that sending unspent fuel through the turbo is good at all.
Put it this way...
TURBO = HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTT!
Exhaust Gas Temperatures can read in the 1500 to 1600 degrees Fareinheit. Think of sending gas through that. Fuel + extremely hot = BOOM!
Do you want explosions INSIDE your turbo housing? I don't think so.
But, on a N/A motor... then just ditch the cat, get an ignition cut and mate it to a spare spark plug about 4 inches from the muffler tip. Then when you press a button you cut ignition, sending unburnt fuel through the exhaust pipe, to a waiting spark plug that fires ONLY when you press the ignition cut button.
Presto! Flames!
Thats why you see it most often on old school v-8's. No turbo's to go BOOM!
