Almost has to be a rebuild with 130k on it. Nice car, it also looks like a hardtop (no-sunroof) which is a plus. Also might be an R2, is there a second oil cooler on the passenger side?

Did you run premix in you gas tank? If not then what type of oil did you use in the engine?

What trades are you interested in? I have a built s13 if you would like to check it out.

Its no an R2

and why would you need a rebuilt?

Look Ive been dealing with rotary engines!
ive had my rx7's go up to 250k miles without rebuilt. Just depends on how you treat them.

Just like your usual car.

Why would you have to run Pre-mix oil? Its stock

And that s13 is sick!!

Hatemy7, if you're a 7 enthusiast I would expect you to know why. The factory OMP has been known to take a shit and then what happens? Your apex seals are toasted.

Anybody who has been dealing with performance rotary engines very long will agree that deleting the factory oil injection system and using premix is the way to go. Your seals are guaranteed to be oiled and the factory oil injectors also leave nasty deposit patterns on the rotor housings that can again lead to seal failures.

The reason I ask the type oil he has been running if he doesn't premix is because that synthetic oils are not to be used in rotary engines with factory oil injection because the synthetic oil can not be burned completely upon combustion and leaves really bad deposits inside the housing.

Rotaries are nothing like a "usual car"

Any regular Joe can go out and buy one, "maintain" it, and it be ruined in a matter of months because rotary engines are not common knowledge to most performance enthusiasts.

Thanks for compliments on my ride as well!

OP, let us know a little more information on the car. It normally doesn't take long at all to sell a FD.

It could be an R2. If it's a hardtop it's actually more likely that its an R2 and not a base. There were 60 vintage red base models produced for the states and 156 vintage red R2s. Pretty sure all PEP and Touring cars were sunroof. Source:
(3rd Gen Mazda RX-7 Production Numbers (http://alecto.bittwiddlers.com/vehicles/rx7-numbers.shtml)).
It doesn't have the large front lip from an R2, but it also doesn't have the small chin lip that all non-R1/R2s got. Checking for an oil cooler is the best way to tell.

NA rotaries make 250k miles. Turbos don't. Especially turbos with shitty OMPs and prone-to-failure sequential twin turbo systems.

See above about the shitty stock OMP why people premix.

OP sorry for the thread-jack. Free bump for you again. Seeing this post makes me miss my FD. :2f2f:

So my Turbo 2's with 160k miles +
and my 3rd gen 175k miles ( stock )

Is due for a rebuild?

Guys I understand what you guys are saying, but sometime it also depends on how people treat their cars.

Idk maybe im just being hard headed when it comes to rotaries lol..
But I do agree with everything you guys said.

Seeing how little you know about rotaries especially FD's I would be weary to buy lol. Anyone interested definitely listen to some of guys above who actually know what they're talking about and jump on rx7club for faq's and just good general knowledge. The most important thing here is to buy this with the intention of getting a rebuild as it WILL need one. A compression test will certainly let you know!
