hi, this is my first time posting on this forum. i am currently looking to buy an ae86, but am also contemplating a dohc s13 if i can find a good deal. if i were to get an s13 i'd probably want to turbo it further down the road. i think i'd want to run about 6-8psi, maybe 10psi max. what would be the best turbo for this setup? i want as little lag as possible while still providing good power up top without losing the turbos efficiency. after searching and reading through the forums, i thought a z31 t3 sounded like a pretty good choice? any suggestions? i'm basically looking for a setup with great responsiveness for running the touge. any feedback will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Please. Learn to read a compressor map. It will allow you to find exactly what your looking for.
Psi numbers dont mean anything. You can run any psi on any turbo. All turbo's are not created equal.
I'd recommend a small T3. AND just from experience. KA24DET+TOUGE = WASTE OF TIME. Buy an LSD.

Z31 turbo is a good choice. Or a small T3 as stated above.

I have a small t3 and it sucks, i wish I had went with a slightly larger turbo, I only have my boost from 2500-5000 rpms. I am not overy thrilled with it.

i know, i can't read compressor maps. i just look at them and feel stupid. they confuse the hell out of me! it's probably easier than it looks, someone will have to show me one day. Maeda, you said ka24det is no good for touge....why? too much torque? i'm really interested in your opinion and would like to hear more about your experience with ka24det+touge. are you excluding just the ka-t or turbo motors all together (for the s13) in terms of running the touge?

I'm amazed so many bitch about the Z31 T3...it's a great match for the KA for 6-8psi.
And everyone says "mine doens't hold boost over 6k"...BS. Yours is blown.
Z31 guys run 15psi as the norm and it holds to redline...on a 3.0 liter!!!
I like the T3 Super-60, .63 A/R turbine, Stage I wheel...for spool by 2500 on a KA.

my z31 T3 is perfect and I love it, practically intant spool, and it holds 7 psi now, Im going to turn it up to 10 + when I get to the dyno this summer.

Touge? i hope you're joking....
anyways... T3 is plenty big enough for a moderate KA turbo kit... go for it.

no, i'm not joking about the touge. why? is a ka24det too much for the touge? if someone has had experience with ka24det+touge, please shed some light on it for me!!!

For touge,I think what everybody is saying is that your money will be better spent on suspension componetry before putting a turbo on your engine:)
Just wanna add something about the tongue+ka-t. True, buy suspention before the turbo, AND the KA doesnt have much of an RPM range. But that is where id like to try and prove them wrong about the rpms.
