Okay, so my old car got hit in the rear quarter panel/rear driver side area and the catback took a lot of damage. The pipe going into the muffler near the differential bent to the point where it was completely kinked, but the rest of the system (the downpipe and the front part of the catback) looked fine, no kinks.
Fast forward to putting old DP/catback on new car. I bolt up the downpipe and its clocked off to the passenger side of the car. It wasn't anywhere near the heatshield that sits above the cat. I find it odd, whatever, move on.
Try to put the cat on... forget it, its completely off its mark and ends up hitting the driveshaft. It is also clocked further towards the passenger side of the car.
I take my catback and a stock 240SX with a KA to a muffler shop and they "make" the catback fit by cutting the pipe in certain spots, pointing the piping in the correct direction and welding it.
I had it on my car before so I KNOW its SUPPOSED to fit, but it didn't.
Now, my question is, is it possible that the catback/downpipe, due to the collision, bent enough to the point where they would not align properly, but not enough to actually kink the piping?
The downpipe and catback are mild steel.
I DOUBT it was anything on the motor, cus that shit is cast iron and I dont think its going to move. :P
I know this is confusing but help a brother out. I need to get my exhaust bolted back up ASAP... also if anyone has any pictures of their downpipe/cat bolted up to their S13 w/ SR20, that wouldbe VERY helpful
Thanks
