View Full Version : bolts keep coming loose
Am I the only one whos passenger side shaft to diff bolts keep coming loose?
first time it happened I didn't know until they all came off :/
After fitting a new shaft with new high tensile bolts, new spring washers and nylock nuts they have come loose again, not completely but they are nowhere near as tight as I did them. I am on a welded diff too.
any and all input greatly appreciated

the passenger side diff output might be wobbling, making the bolts come loose.

Do the bolts that you are using have the correct length shoulder on them? With a properly sized bolt the shoulder would just stick out of the end enough for a washer to cover it up. You might also want to try using K nuts or prevailing torque nuts. Any aircraft supplier should carry AN hardware, which is super strong and have the correct amount of shoulder for the given length. If the issue keeps happening after that them I would bet its the welded diff causing them to come loose. The combination of chattering and rotation is a recipe for bad things to happen.

Utilize lock washers and blue loctite. Problem solved.

+1 on lock washers and loctite.
Already using lock washers and nylock nuts.
the passenger side diff output might be wobbling, making the bolts come loose.
This is beginning to look like the most likely thing after tightening them up countless times now.
How do I remove the output to check?
Edit: found out how to remove them
