View Full Version : I need a new racing game...
Yeah so I'm still playing sportscarGT which came out in '99 and its still awsome but there are only so many tracks and cars. Once you have raced them all a million times it starts getting old. So what racing games do you all play on your PC?

I have
need for speed:high stakes--that game is freaking awesome, you can even put ur own cd in after the game finshed the initial load and u can do many things in the game, unlocking many cars and tracks, very fun game
need for speed:porsche unleashed--very good game and this game is the series after NFS:HS, so it of course has better graphics and framerate. It isnt that much more fun though cause u are only limited to porsche
and finally
nascar racing:1999 edition--this is the worst racing game i ever played, I wish i never bought it, no music at all, very sucky graphics, and just a waste of my $10 bucks(it was on clearance when I bought it(I wonder why)
i've played nfs hs and porshe and they were just ok, not near as good as sports car gt IMO although the porshe one was pretty fun. The physics weren't what I thought they should be. and in SCGT you can change, tirepressure, wing/airdamn degree, camber, ride hight, gear ratio, ect ect ect...its just awsome. You buy your car, start a season, and you get money for winning and you can buy mods for your car. You can race in gtq, gt3, gt2, and gt1. heh, if they would just make some new tracks for it I would be set. BTW its only 10 bux since its so old, or like 20 grouped with several other old racing games.

There is a game supposed to be coming out pretty soon called MotorCity it sounds like it's goin to kick ASS!!! it's like an RPG online. U have ur own character and u start out with a certain amount of money buy a car and race peeps online to win mroe mone. Like GT3 except ur racing real peeps on the other end of the world. 1000s of modifications and paint schemes, download new cars and other new stuff of the net. The only thing is unfortunate for us is NO 240'S :-( basically centered around muscle cars from 20's-70's but im sure imports will be added in one day and it still sounds kick ass neway!!! :-)))

Okay, dont laugh at me, but Midtown Madness (and MM2) in my opinion is actually the most fun car racing game I've ever played. The physics engine is actually really good, and the races are fun. They have some extra cars you can download, no 240's or Skyline's or Z's though. Someone could always make one.

I would love to play GT3 for a few months. I have heard you can play that game for like a year and still not beat everything... I played project gotham for XBOX and it was beyond awsome (the Skyline is a riot to drive) but for PC Colin McRae rally is a lot of fun (it doesn't have full rally courses but it takes sub sections of them... but the realism is really great, and the graphix are awsome too.. fun to drift in) NFS5 porche is a great game to, but it is all porches. And it is not great if you like to drift even in games, cause the realism for that kinda thing stinks. But it is a really great game, has 2 modes (1 where you can modify your car, one that is like a right of passage through the ranks of porche test drivers) and the multiplayer is excellent too...

I beta tested this game for electronic arts, and its pretty darn cool...especially if you're into american muscle cars.
The customizing in this game blows GT3 away. You can buy individual engine blocks, and then buy an edelbrock head, and then buy an intake manifold, and then a carb....there are so many individual parts you can buy for your car. Of course you can do exterior stuff too. I started out with a huge 250hp 4500lb boat...you can get mustangs and stuff like that too.
I doubt they'll do imports any time soon, but even if you're not into domestic cars, there is something to be said about doing a huge rear wheel burn out with an 8cyl 600hp muscle car.

motor city sucks! I've been waiting for that game to come out for 2 years!!!!! and then when they do....they slap on a 10/month charge to play it!
I'm playing SportscarGT too, came with my Wingman Steering wheel...all I gotta say is, dayum! SCGT is seriously awesome....I agree with what your saying though, after a while, the same cars and tracks get kinda old....but it is teaching me a lot about throttle steering and such, honestly speaking, it's taught me a lot about lines and general driving skills.
I also have Need4speed High Stakes...it's okay, physics suck, but the graphics are very nice.
If you guys are looking for more driving sims...check out this website, it's a website that keeps track of them, reviews them, and it's all about driving games....you won't find Quake 30 gold edition in here

Tokyo extreme racer for the PS2. You drive in real Tokyo highways and engaged in street battles, best way to race on the street with out actually doing it . Dude PS2 racing in my opinion is way better. I hate nascar games again my opinion, going in F circle is freaking boring!

Have you played it? It really doesn't suck. I don't think they ever said you wouldn't have to pay for it. The only way to have a massive multiplayer game is by having monthly payments on it to keep the computers up and running that are running the servers. (or just lose 10's of thousands of dollars...)

sorry, maybe I should be more specific. The game looks cool, sounds cool, probably is cool....that's why I waited oh so anxously for it to come out....I just hate the fact that these online games are starting to go that way.
personally, I think someon should start a company like the MSN Zone, or Heat or something, but charge companies to host the games, and keep records and such, and then the players can pay like 20 bucks a month, but get to play all their multiplayer games online. to me that would be worth it, but to pay 10 bucks a month just to be able to play one game? I don't think it's worth it...but then, I never thought Ultima online, or Asheron was worth it either.
Honestly, I think the game probably kicks a**, but I think they should do something different for the pricing.

The absolute best racing game (IMO) is Grand Prix Legends. Yeah, the cars look old, but the graphics of the game are amazing, and the creators have designed the cars and tracks with great detail and incorporated real physics into the way the cars drive, hit bumps, crash, fall apart, stop, go, drift, etc. My bf started playing it and it has taught him SO much about how to race a car in real life. And you can play it online!
Viper Racing is kinda cool, too, but the physics are somewhat fakey. We still play that once in a while.
