Each step of the way this engine pisses me off.

Bought an engine and tranny to swap into an auto S14 (auto to manual conversion)

Swapped everything in. Started it up and the engine cam gear (that I stupidly didn't torque the shit out of) loosened, jumped teeth and jammed a valve into the piston.

Took the head off, found out the head was fucked, it had huge gashes near the valve seat.

Threw a new head on, used valved grinder's compound to make new valve seats and used a new valve cover.

Tried to start it up and it took forever. I have to keep the gas pedal to the floor and even then it takes a bit to start. And once it starts it dies unless I hold the gas down.

Compression sucks across the board. 90 psi give or take 10.

After running for a bit the engine reads that its overheating even though the radiator and hoses are cool to the touch.

When its reading around operating temperature it just won't start. I have to let it sit for a bit to cool down and when it does start its pissing oil from somewhere around the crank pulley. I don't know if its the pulley seal or leaking from the oil pan gasket. You can actually see the drips running down the side fairly quickly. It only leaks during this period. Just sitting there it doesn't leak.

Any one have ideas as to whats going on? I want to know what is causing my shitty compression, my hard starts, my lack of an idle, my unability to start when the car is hot, and why the pan keeps pissing oil when the engine runs

First off all , calm down.

Secondly, don't blame one of the simplest motors to work on for your user error.

Your motor has 90psi compression across the board because the timing is mechanically off on the timing chain by a tooth or more. Therefore you need to adjust the chain. time the motor properly and all your problems will be solved aside from the oil leak....which is either a front main seal or oil pan gasket...of which both should have been done when you had the motor out of the car.

ok well how do I set the mechanical timing? I tried setting it exactly what they show in the diagram here. http://jimwolftechnology.com/wolfpdf/CAM%20INSTALL%20INST%20FOR%20KA24DE.PDF

It required a bit of turning once the cam caps were tightened. Is that what you have to do? Or do you set it in so it sits naturally and isn't pushing down on any of the valves?

also I don't think the seal is that simple. It didn't leak when I ran it in the parts car I got it in. It only leaked when the engine gets hot. The crank case vent on the VC had a filter on it. It leaked then. I took the filter off and put the hose on to vent it into the intake arm. It stopped. Then I drove the car a bit and it started leaking again when the engine got hot.
