Well, yes this has been covered a million times so wth do you ask? You will get your answers in MANY other posts. Secondly, doesnt matter between JDM and USDM vlsd. Same thing. Basically, if your budget can handle a aftermarket LSD, then go that route. VLSD is good to learn off of though. Blah!

there is usually a difference with USDM ones and JDM ones. The output flanges. JDM ones are usually 5 bolt, and USDM ones are usually 6 bolt. 240's use the 6 bolt axles, so you will either need to modify your axles, or get 92 J30 ones, if you wind up with a JDM 5 bolt flange diff.

IIRC all VLSD whether JDM or USDM have the 5-bolt axles. That's why the Kaaz and Tomei LSD's now fit into open diff pumkins. If all USDM pumkins were 6-bolt they wouldnt advertise that it fits into the open diff pumkin only.

is VLSD worth it?

depends on how much it's gonna cost you. If you get it hooked up with everything installed, with new diff fluid and gaskets, and the bearing in the diff are still cool, i would pay up to 400 bucks for all that. some people say it shouldnt cost you more than 200 bucks, but what i'm saying is that it's worth 400 bucks for sure(installed) compared to a Kaaz which is like 800 plus install.

sorry, thats wrong, these facts are out there and easily attainable

s13/s14 usdm vlsd uses the 6 bolt output shafts.

they advertise that because their lsd's use the open diff output shafts, which is desirable because vlsd output shafts are not only expensive from the dealer, but can be hard to find.

iirc, not all vlsd's have the same gear ratio, depending on which model you get (i know the j30 is obviously different, but i think the jdm versions have 2 different gear ratios)

ok, guys. If I confused oh well should have made myself clear. VLSD, usdm or jdm will ACT the same. Thats what I meant. Yes, gear ratio are different sometimes. You would want to get a 4.08. Some may come 4.3 (180's)
