Hello superiors, now after wiring an s13 sr20det in an s14 chassis I'm encountering couple of minor infractions, but the main thing to stay a little safe in this town is to know how fast I'm going.
So the speedometer don't work. I tried hardwiring cause one of my buddy has done so nd it works just fine.
Just wanted to know if it is 2p or 8p that u hook up the hardwire to?

Thank you for your input.

what do you mean by "hardwiring"?
what are you referring to as "the hardwire"?

the speed sensor in the trans feeds a signal to the ecu, and then the ecu to your instrument cluster.

Sorry for late reply.
Hardwiring as in crimping into the speedsensor with a wire running straight to the back of the speedometer. Use the hot wire from the sensor nd take it to the 2p gauge cluster screw(which is for the speedometer)

Thank you.

Taking the ecu out of the equation. Feed it from the sensor to the instrument cluster.
The thing is there is 2p nd a 8p. Don't know which 1.
Thanks.

Pleasee tell me I'm not speaking jebrish. It worked on a buddys s13 with the same sr. Which is red top s 13.. humm come to notice while I'm typing, does the s14 need a different sensor for the cluster since is a s13 red top??? Humm..??

That was excatly the case with my water temp gause sensor. S13 red top sensors r diff from s14 gauge sensors when it comes to speedometer??

ok are you sure that the signal that the instrument cluster receives from the ecu is the same as the ecu receives from the speed sensor?

and what does bypassing the ecu achieve anyways? why wouldn't you just hook it up properly? what would you benefit from "hardwiring"?

are you telling me that your ecu does not see a water temp? its a necessary input for the ecu to control the engine properly.

No ofcourse ecu needs the reading of the water temp. But if 1 has a s13 red top in a s14, then 1 has to change the dash sensor to accommodate accurate reading. And the only reason I'm trying to eleminate the ecu from the speed sensor cause I'm dumb @ wiring!

So if u know the proper way, please direct me.

Thank you.

Not sure about jumping it straight to the cluster but you definitely need an S14 sensor. You need to match sensor with the cluster. So S14 sensor for the S14 cluster. Take the sensor out of your KA tranny...
