Does the 90 240sx fastback have lsd? I just recently bought one, and I wasn't sure if it had one or not. From what I have read, the HICA model is the one that has it, and I don't see the HICA's sticker on my 240, so I am going to assume that my car doesn't have LSD. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks a lot people!

nope, sorry, no LSD. How do you know for sure you don't have HICAS? do you know what a tie-rod looks like? look in the back, if there are a set of tie rods in the rear by the axle, then you have HICAS, if not, you don't

also if u have a big PS resivor thats black u have hicas.. right?

Sorry nightwalker, I actually don't know what a tie-rod looks like =T I'm still a noob, with cars in general really. I've just started getting really interested in them, and I just got my 240 this last week so...bear with me =) But yeah, thanks a lot nightwalker, and thanks epidemiksx. I was pretty sure I didn't have the LSD...but there was nothing wrong with hoping *sigh*.

I was under the impression that only 91-94 hatches came with hicas.


the easiest way to tell is by trying to do a burn out and see if both tires spin.

holy crap.
HICAS was only offered in US for 91-93 MY on fastbacks only.
LSD is rumored to have been an option in 89-90 (and it's mentioned in the FSMs), but I've yet to see a SOHC with VLSD.
'94 was only convertibles, ergo, no 5 speed, no HICAS.

Thanks mrmephistopheles, that was good info. Looks like I am going to have to install a LSD myself then...*sigh*. Eh, oh well. More work = more experience with the cars. =)

No, the easiest way to check is to jack up your rear wheels and turn them.. if they turn in the same direction then you have LSD, if they turn opposite directions then you don't. Its been discussed many times before.. it'll spare you from looking like an ass if anyone's around when you're doing your burn out.
