So i'm building my s14, and one of the last things I have to buy is an intercooler setup. I've had multiple cars with front mounts and even on lower boost levels i've had problems blowing couplers off/ destroying them all together.

I've been between going v-mount, or mid-mount. The motor is a built sr, precision 6262 turbo, 272 cams, etc. since it's sleeved i plan on running somewhere in the hi 20's boost wise.

The only kit i've found is the pbm, which i really like, but it's formulated for the t25-t28 crowd. The problem i have is the core size, and the outlet size. Would it be a sufficient size intercooler? This will be a mostly track car, drifting in specific (maybe some DE/auto x events) I'm worried that it won't be large enough to dissipate the heat fast enough. Would it be a good idea to run a meth injection setup to compensate for this?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

blowing couplers off? Sounds odd. you can put a bead (weld) on the intercooler/pipes so when you clamp down the couplers they have something better to grip onto.

i have no idea if that Mid mount will be sufficient.

Well it was partly due to me always having somewhat ghetto setups. I just really like the idea of two total pipes, rather than like 6-7

PBM didn't think there Mid/High mount would be efficient past 400-450 horsepower so i don't think it would work that good for you.

Try bead rolling your intercooler pipes, or look into better couplers (4-5 ply) As far as clamps, i've heard alot of bad about t-bolt clamps as people actually over tighten them putting them out of round which will allow them to blow off. I switched all my t-bolt clamps to worm gear clamps while i was getting tuned and didn't have a single one come off after blowing off 4 t-bolt ones.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the input, fount mount it is i guess.

Opinions on meth injection?

ther're alot of threads on meth injection, just use the search...
