View Full Version : Does aero look bad when it's unpainted on the same color car?

Trying to decide on some aero...kouki front lip, skirts and rear bumper and see that most of them come unpainted and are white from the factory. Does it look ghetto if I mount them on my white coupe without painting them white or does it look okay?

Have any pics by chance? If it's that noticeable I'd probably hate it because I'm always trying to make my car look perfect and I can't afford a kit and paint way too pricey for me right now.
Yeah sorry I knew there was a thread for "identify this" and "wheel fitment questions" and everything I didn't know there was an actual thread just for questions. I'll use it next time thanks.

Just mount the sideskirts and see if it matches enough for you before you mount the entire kit.

It looks kinda of funky, because the aero is off whitish and you can tell when the sun hits it even more, the car just looks half-assed, do it right and get the whole thing painted...

Jersthecool
01-16-2013, 11:32 PM
No I'll definitely get it painted when I get it, it's just I only have the money now for either a bride seat and rails or to finish my kit but I won't have enough for paint because it's expensive as shit. So I was wondering if it looked decent enough to pass on paint for now and still rock the kit but whatever I'll do that when I'm done school and actually have money, the seat it is!

Unpainted aero has not looked bad on only two cars.

sand it all yourself and have a maaco paint em white. or take them to a shop. I can't see you spending more than 200 bucks even at a legit body shop.

Jersthecool
01-17-2013, 01:51 PM
Yeah that looks okay but still kinda ghetto. If it was on my car though it would probably look worse because it's clean and not a beat up drift car.

Hmm yeah I guess you wouldn't be paying for "body work" on new parts since it doesn't need to be done, so I guess it wouldn't be too expensive maybe I'll call around and check some prices.

Nah I did my dad's cars hood black and it looks okay but it's pretty ghetto. I saw a whole yukon done in black and it looks like shit, it'd probably be better in white but I'd rather just paint it.

Stop defending yourself. Obviously the answer for you is PAINT.

^ hah I was gonna do the same thing, seriously, do whatever you need to do besides the aero first then when you have the money do it right the first time.

if you have a really good deal lined up on the aero then buy it but don't mount it til you can get a good paint job shortly after.

do it right the first time instead of having to do it over again do to lazyness/cheapness.

Plasti dip and wraps are like trying to polish a turd. It doesnt work or look good at all. You will never beat a quality paint job.

wrong hobby dude.

paper airplanes are two aisles over.

if you can't afford paint, don't get the kit.

if your girlfriend wanted fake tits and you said "ok honey, i can afford to buy the implants, but i can't afford the surgery to actually put them in, just stuff em in your bra" do you think she'd be down?

(if the answer to that question is "yes", time for a new girlfriend.)

If you don't give a fuck, then rock it. That's how mine is. Only reason I haven't gotten it painted yet is because engine shit has come up and I'd rather not have the car painted if I've gotta pull the motor.

Shit looks like shit, but whatever, still gets drifted.

It's definitely going to look better when it's painted. But if you're dying to put the aero on, do it. Will it look awesome and professional? No. But it won't kill you either. Will definitely make you appreciate it that much more in the end when your body is complete. Till then just ask yourself if you can wait to have the money for paint before mounting it.

Prep the kit youself and take it to get painted. It will be worth it if you wait

Get your paint code mixed into a spray can. If you sand/primer/base/clear it correctly it will come out good enough until you respray your whole car. Its usually $20 a can depending on quality and the clear is about $25 a can. Ive done this to paint a few thing on my subie and it has lasted through weather etc, and most people can't tell unless they really look at it closely.

Every car posted so far in this thread looks like poop, so that should give you a hint. Leave it stock if you can't afford bodywork and paint

I agree, even though one of them is mine. But don't copout for a fucking rattle can job. That sucks worse than having different colored kit pieces.

does a bear shit in the woods? or a better question, do you care if a bear shits in the woods?

Don't shorten my quote and try to make me look like a SNIP. I said I can't afford the kit and paint right now so I was considering running the kit without paint for a little while, not that I can't afford it and will never do it. I'm a full time student and work only 2 days a week right now I can't afford to just throw money around like nothing at this time. I simply created a thread to see people opinions of how it looked.

I have probably 15-20 grand invested in my car, I do all my own maintenence and servicing on both my 240's and I love it, I've pulled my engine, took it apart and put it back in and I even helped my friend do his entire b16 swap on his integra. So I'm not doing too bad considering I'm only 19 and I'm pretty sure I'm in the right hobby, but you can be the judge of that.

Thanks for anyone else who replied with solid answers and opinions and not bashing on me for asking a simple question.

So you've put 20k into a car and your plan was to strap an unpainted body kit to it?

Tha fuck are you smokin?

if you have done that much from maintenance to pulling motors, swaps, ect. im sure you'll be able to pull it off painting them. never hurts to try. plus you learn from it and will save you some money.
