I'm stumped. My ignitor is still getting extremely hot when I turn the key to the on position. This is what I have done so far.
1. Pin traced. All the every wire has continuity where it should.
2. Sent the harness back to Yury at WS. They went over the entire harness again. Said everything checks out.
3. Replaced 4 coil packs
4. Replaced coil pack harness
5. Replaced ignitor
6. Replaced ECU
When I use a test light on the 5 pin connector for the ignitor it shows no current and a solid ground in the middle. When I plug the ignitor in I tested the 4 pins on the other side. They all have a signal... Which leads me to believe that all the coilpacks are getting constant signal... causing the ignitor to turn into molten magma. What gives? Im running out of stuff to try. Btw it doesnt get hot if the coil packs arent plugged in.
The car will crank but runs horrible.

i see you tried everything, but have you tried google? i just googled it because ive never heard of that , and it came up automatically as i was typing it, theres lots of forums and pages with different answeres, maybe in one of those pages theres something you havent tried, on one they stated to replace battery or clean bettery post and terminals if they are corroded. Also make sure youre testing stuff from good running cars like a friends car that runs good.

Yes of course I have tried google. That is where I went first. I have only come up with 3 instances that this has happened (SR20 related). The first was the ecu, the second was the harness and the third was inconclusive. But seriously though. It's deff not the battery terminals.

What ECU are you using?

Ok. Yury from wiring specialties deloomed my entire harness and found no issues. So he sent it back. I don't know what else I can try. I did notice that my harness is worn down in the passenger side wheel well. This is the part of the chassis harness that supplies power to the main harness. Is there any chance the issue could be there? Or maybe even a relay?

Verified Kouki Harness and Kouki ECU?

NA S14 SR20DET ecu is a weird one, my mechanic couldn't find a pinout so he had to do one wire at a time.

Yes. Kouki harness and kouki ecu. I pin traced too. Ignition signals 1 2 3 and 4 from the ecu match up to the ignitor chip plug.

could there be something after the igniter chip that may be wired incorrectly or something? No idea.... is suck at wiring.

Everything checks out on the harness.

The insulation on two wires has rubbed through.

It's possible you've shorted out those wires and fried your ecu, fix the wires, tuck your harness, get another ecu

and check harnesses on both front wheel wells, if you have low ride height or blown coils you need to inspect them for frayed wires

I would come to that conclusion as well but ive tried another known working ecu.

So what was the problem?

The wiring harness.

if the coil packs or ignitor is getting hot the sub harness for the coil packs is not wired correctly. and if it's still heating up then yes it's the harness inside of the cabin.

Problem has been solved for a while now. It was a faulty main engine harness.
