Ok I'm 17, a seinor in HS. I know some ppl are different than others, like some go to college, become lawers or whatever and get m3's while others drop out, smokeup and ride a bike. OK well lets just say I'm never gona get an m3...I'm failing 2 of my 3 classes this year. I have about 2 weeks worth of work due today at 110am (est), its now 3:30am and I haven't done shit. Umm not really sure what I'm askin here just, yeah, this sucks. Its not that the work is hard, I just get sick every time I open another frickin book. My job(database/tech/networking) is just as bad. Hate gettin up in the morning cauz I have to either go to work or do school work. I have gotten to the point where I really don't care about much of anything. I really want to just drop out and quit my job. So umm yeah, any of you older ppl go through some sort of crap like this during late HS/early college or is it just me? I think longterm employers won't care that you have a ged as long as you've got a bs. Think I should just say "screw it!" and drop out and go back to school when I figure out what I'm doing with my life?

Yeah, it's part of growing up. You'll get over it (or if you don't, you can ask me if I want fries with my burgers, and I'll laugh at you, and you'll spit in my shake). Do some work, get through high school, then take a semester off. I garuntee you'll find doing nothing sucks more ass than school. ####, I just wish things were as easy as they were when I was in high school. You'll grow out of it, just don't give up you you will regret it forever. I nearly didn't graduate 'cause I slacked off big senior year. English teacher saved my ass, gave me a D as long as I retook the class over summer and earned an A in it. Or ####, give up and drop out. Mebbe you'll get lucky and still make a living. . . hehe, yeah right, that only happens on TV Stick in there dood, do as much as you can and pass.

Senior year of high school, taking only three classes? Just try to graduate man. You only have another semester to go. Heh sorry, that's the only advice I can give. I never did too well in school but I managed to graduate. I'm in my second year of college and I've already failed the same math class twice, but I know I can pass it so I'm not giving up. All I can suggest is set your goal on graduating, because you're already so close to finishing.

When I was 17 I found it tough to be motivated to do much of anything either. You just don't have anything to work for at that age. The only advice I can give you is find something you like to do and do it. There's always time to earn more money later on.

What your doing is like a marathon. The hardest part is the final lap when you`re tired and could no longer be bothered. More than ever you should block everything out and finish it once and for all so you never have to go through the sh1t again.
Then you can kick back and feel the relief that its over.
At that point think about what you want to do , enjoy yourself , hard works behind you. Get educated while your programmed to as a youngster cos it gets harder as you get older. FINISH IT NOW!!!

i'm only a year ahead of u, but still feelin' the same way. i've decided that i'm just gonna stick w/ it n GET IT OVER WITH. this semester flew by hella fast, can't believe it's over 3 months past sept. 11 already. but yeah, it ain't that bad, n i know ppl that have taken off a semester to a year n worked n they all wanted to really go back to school. the summer should be good enough to cool u off.

I agree with those that say tough it out and then take some time when you are done. Once you walk out that door, it becomes a lot harder to walk back in. Take a year off now and maybe you'll decide to take another... THEN get a GED... honest. Don't fool yourself - if you finish this year, its done. Then get yourself straight by taking the time you need to figure out where you're going. At least you make a fresh start from that point, rather than having to take 2 step back b/f you can go forward. $0.02

Well, DSC stay in school!!!! the average american worker no not only graduated HS but went to at least some sort of post high school education. I know how you fell. I was like that for awhile, If it wasn't for sports I would have been lost. Both my parents are teachers and they deal with people in your situation everyday. Remember, your teachers don't WANT to fail you. You just have to make an effort. talk to your teachers, just put in a few minutes of work everyday, and pay attention in class. Your teachers will help you if you give them a reason too. Oh yeah, you may not end up at Stanford but just graduating from High school will put you so much further ahead than dropping out. If you don't like your job now, image how bad it will be ten years from now when you don't have the background to get hired and the average U.S. worker has an average education level of a four year graduate @ a University or better. Good Luck DSC. You just need to find a MOTIVATION!!!

Yeah, don't drop out!! I saw so many drop out their last semester when I gradutated last year. You have been in school for like 12 and half years and you are thinking about pissing that away because you don't want to finish 18 weeks? That is hella lame. I wouldn't even take a semester off, if you go right to college it will be easier in the long run and most people never go back if they take a semester off. You have the whole summer, college will not start until the end of August; so you will have like a 3 month break. Just look at the M3 you want and hopefully that will be enough motivation....

stay in school, you're close to getting out soon. i dropped out when i was in my sophmore year because i was unmotivated and i would have been on the 6 year plan. but after working hard jobs, school wasn't shit. fuck that. who cares if you have to stay another half or full year, it's only three classes. it's something you can't change in the future. once you're out of school, your job will be a breeze.

Dude, finish school and enroll in college as soon as you're out of HS... trust me, it sucks trying to go back to college once you're used to a commuter life.

Are you still living at home? if you are, take advantage of it, since you don't need to work full time and you can pay attention to school.

When I was still at home, 19, and making 10 bucks an hour, it was great! tons of extra cash to spend on whatever the #### I wanted... Now I'm 22, married and still making the same 10 fĂșcking bucks an hour, I can't even afford going to a freakin' movie on my weekends.
I had only 1 year to finish college, but I dropped out... just to give you an example, in this same position I am right now, with a college degree (on whatever, even if it was english) I'd be making $30K+ a year.... how do you think I feel?

If you guessed like an idiot, you're RIGHT!

I took the easy route, got my GED at 16 and I got kicked out of high school and went strait to community college. I'm an 18 year old sophmore in college, but since you're almost done with highschool finish it. Highschool is the hard part, finish it and start college part time with some easy classes and your life will be a #### of alot better.

listen...stay in school...freak had to learn the hard way that an education could mean the difference between making 12k/yr (which i'm making now) or 120k (which i will be making when i graduate college)...so, don't be an idiot like me and freak...finish high school and grad college...or join the military and finish it there...shit, it'll be free afterwards...so why not???

when i was 17 i had 1 class as a senoir in highschool, and it wasnt even at my school??? it was in the building but... long story...

yeah i never even thought of droping out, it's death.

my brother now 18 got kicked out of 2 schools for doing what your doing, not doing the work. he didnt go to class and was disruptive when he did... now he'll be 18 in a few weeks and needs 8 full credits to graduate and i think he's failing at least two classes...

everyone thinks they're great, me especially.. but what matters is what important people think, that gets you started, and no highscholl diploma will not get you anyrespect unless your fingers are magic wands

I feel your pain bud, i absolutely blew off my last year of HS. I took a year off (worked in a factory, yay!) and went back to college for my CET (Mechanical engineering technology). Then took ANOTHER year off and went after my engineering degree (still in progress).
@ 17 you can still rebound from your mistakes; but you will pay for it. Taking the first year off taught me why we bother to get educated. The second round actually taught me what to focus on in college. Both experiences were invaluble but cost time....
Lucky i have a VERY tolerant girlfriend (+she makes a fair amount of coin and is pretty sexy )
Don't worry buddy, you'll make it.

stay in school. Get that diploma then go to college. Your best oppurtunities for women happen in College but of course go to college because you want to learn and be successful. College is a lot different than HS . You are there because you want to be there which will give you more motivation.
I partied through HS took the GED in 11th grade and got kicked out in 12th for cutting. I was already going to Auto Tech at De ANZA college at that time it was the third best auto tech school in the nation.
I discovered that though I like wrenching on cars. I hate wrenching on othe peoples cars. So I went into sales started my own Japanese engine and Transmission business. Ya we were the pioneers of bringing in Jspec engines. Sun Performance Imports up the San Francisco bay area, for, like 6 years. You know what ?? Think carefully, when I was 20 I thought I knew what I wanted to do with my life . Boy , was I wrong .
I know am doing what I should have been doing all along . Music. Yes I am in the music business. It suits me fine. I even went back to school and got a certificate of Sound Engineering .
Being rich is not the key. Being happy is . Get the education, but get it in something you really are interested in and want to do . It will make your life more enjoyable. Think hard after you get your Diploma . Make sure its what you should be doing whatever you do.

good luck and don't freak.
