i'm taking an economics class and the teacher challenged each student to spend $8 million, listing all of our expenses. at first it seemed pretty easy, but now it's getting a bit difficult...

clothes 1,200/yr.
food 4,800/yr.
charity 800,000/yr.
monkey 100,000
ferararri Enzo 670,000
house 3,450,000
garage 500,000

total $5,026,000

i can't really think of anything else to buy without being stupid (with exception to the monkey)...
i'm thinking of a project car (which one?), but i would have to list all the mods, which would actually be kind of fun... hmmm...
i would also need a daily driver...
i only want 3 cars
i really can't believe i'm stuck!!!... oh yeah, no investing, saving. or starting a business. I have to spend it all!!!
i also don't want a boat, vacation, helicopter, jet or another house.
this is probably the coolest hw assignment i've had in a long time!

what would you buy with the 3 million dollars left???

Get married and divorced on purpose. She'll get 1/2 of everything and u'll only have to spend 4 million.

lol. that would be a waste of money.. but makes your hw easier if you can't think of any other way to throw away 8million.

you are gonna live in a 3million dollars house and spend $4800 on food? i guess you don't plan on eatting out at nice restaurants much?

buy some businesses, like a burger or something, that should really impress your teacher.

kingsol

If I were filthy rich:

I would buy at least one county's worth of land, and on half of it, I would build a race track much like the way the Nürburgring is set up(huge and through the forrest) and have it be open for public runs. On the rest of the land, I would turn into a rally course with lots of blind corners and jumps and such. Of course I would have a plethora of cars to run on these tracks and would spend all my time working on those cars and racing the tracks. The rest of the money would go towards insurance to let lots of people run on my tracks for FREE!

There you go , build a private racetrack(not a business) that will cost you a few mill. Then you can let all your friends drift on it. If i really had to spend 8 mill it would be too easy. I got friends that need stuff you know. A 3 million dollar house, a racetrack on the same property, a few racecars and your live-in mechanic(s). that's already up there. 120 octane gas pump in your garage...you know.. give me 80 mill and i'll spend it for you.

How much furniture can fit ain a 3 million plus house, and do you really think you can invest enough time to keep that shit up all by yourself, or will you need to hire specialists for the grounds, swimming pool, security and to cook all of that food? And you only alotted 1200 bucks for clothes? Dude, I spent more than that on clothes in a year when I made HALF what I make, you should take no issue with spending at least 5 times that on an 8 mil starting point...

This also reminds me...
Anyone remember that Richard Pryor movie "Brewster's Millions," where he has to spend 30 million in 30 days in order to get his ACTUAL inheiritance of 300 million?

Var
03-30-2004, 03:51 PM
ya that movie was kinda cool, but i was just sitting there thinking, why doesnt he just hire the rolling stones to play for him for a week straight..that would easily cost him 20 mill.

the little islands in the bahamas run anywhere from 6-30 mill...buy a 6 mill one and build a house and all that jazz with the rest of the 2 mill...

just a thought or...

go on one hell of a kick ass trip to vegas and spend all your money there...

or...

on ebay a while ago there was an aircraft carrier on there...buy on of those

or...this isnt really all that hard, think of all the crap that you dont have and add it all up

i don't really care too much about clothes and owning a racetrack or a small island would be pretty cool (one fat togue), ... but i was thinking about just spending the rest of the money on project cars... but which one's?

Are you high?? 3 million on a house doesn't get you something that great,(ok ok, so it is pretty great, but really it depends on what area your lookin at.) and if I had that money to spend, I could go a lot crazier with cars. Just look at jay leno. But I just looked again and I see the racetrack idea. Honestly that is one of my dreams in life. I want my own track, can you imagine the unbelivable awesomeness? I know i can't i think it would be too amazing. So either, get a nice house, because seriously, 3 million is meh if you really talkin about money that big, or get a nice yacht, theyre hella expensive though, 8 million would get oyu somehthng pretty nice, bu tthats the entire thing, i guess if you went for a brand name big yacht you could be ok, or the track. Research the cost a little and make yourself a track. Omg i want one.
Ooh, ooh, also, get yourself your own personal dyno, then you can dyno your cars or anythign else that you want to turn the rollers with!

Who cares what you want? Your assignment is to spend money, ala "Brewster's Millions". He hired the Yankees to play a minor-league team, he bought the most expensive champagne and opened all the bottles, the rarest stamp for $1.25 million and mailed it on a postcard.
Easy stuff to do man.
