Thought i'd share my build with some fellow enthusiasts outside of Australia. The car is a 2001 R34 GTR V-spec2. I've owned this car for about 4years. The engine/car was built in 2011 by Powertune Australia and has given me very little if any issues so far. I haven't taken it down the quarter mile with this power yet but i will surely keep you guys updated when i do.

The main aim of the build was to have a fast streetable car. I believe this has been achieved because i daily drive the car to and from work. Learning from previous builds, i did not want fuel smells from surge tanks or external fuel pumps or remove the air conditioning. Powertune found a way around this, and i am a very happy customer.

Currently makes 750kw/[email protected] on 40psi with E85 Pump Fuel

Not really a build thread, you didn't build it, a shop did. It's a great car and all, but all this amounts to is "look what I bought guys."

So how is that any different than the VA s13 typeX build??

This is an amazing car and you find it necessary to bitch because the guy had the money to have a shop build it? C'mon son!!

To the OP, how is daily driving with the sequential transmission? Do they wear out faster due to not being shifted at high rpms all the time?

Ummm because he updates with picture if progress and its "build"

Not pictures of when its done and driving. Huge difference

Awesome. Watched your rundown video several times. I'm building my hks 2.8 v-cam r34 and hope to achieve similar specs. Your cars dope.

Was more referring to vehicle336s post but the mods say the build should be complete or nearing completion before making a thread. Anyway, the car is undeniably sick.

just a quick question, why not drive a beater around and kick some ass on the track with this thing? i mean you cant be hurting for money getting this thing built! it sounds like its just wanting to be unleashed! haha

either way sick car man!

such a hero comment. the car was bought standard and built to how it is today to my taste and specs, does that mean i "bought" it like that? common mate, a bit more common sense would do some good here.

i am no mechanic and i dont "try" to be a mechanic to put an engine together. i find it more pathetic when a non-mechanic "tries" to build an engine and fails.

Thanx for the kind comments guys

i've driven with this gearbox for about 15,000kms and it still feels like the day i first got it. i'm unsure about wear in the gears until i send it back for a service but shifting with the clutch at low rpm must be done with a technique or a crunch will occur.

the car was built to be a fast street car with minimal compromises. i do and have tracked it in events in australia so the car does get its fair share of flogging.

well he bought the car standard and had all this work done to it
its not like he bought it as it is
he may not have built it himself with his own hands but at the end of the day he was the one who had it built
at least its not a shit box put together by some one who "thinks" his a mechanic, at least he knows its done properly

One cannot apply the term "build" on just the physical plain, it all starts with the mind. The owner was the brains behind this and had the ideas of what he wanted so in a sense he did build this car. As far as the, "look what I bought guys," all of us are guilty of this. I don't see everyone forging their own pistons, making their own coilovers, etc the majority of us buy them.

That car sounds awesome and so so clean inside and out! Are you going to do any top speed runs?

I seriously doubt this.

Really nice car no matter who built it. Must be a shit ton of fun to drive.

I'm sorry, I forgot to nutswing on a thread that doesn't show anything more than the end product of an OMFG AMAZING AWSUM SAWCE [email protected]!!!11. There's no fucking build here. Any pictures of the teardown? Build-up? Shop photos? Reasoning behind the parts?

Like I said: All we see is the end results of a bunch of parts, which were bought by you and not installed by you and instead being installed by a shop. No fucking build here.

Nice car? Yes.
Am I jelly of the end result? Yes.
Are you a *snip for posting what amounts to an introduction thread in the build section and then getting defensively butt-hurt for being called out? Yes.

^ I think you may need to go de-sand yourself.

I understand its not a build thread but you're getting pretty bent out of shape over it.

What kinda of gearbox is that or whatever?? Cuz it does not seem like a normal manual gearbox. Is it triptonic or whatever that is called??

It's a Holinger sequential transmission setup. Also, looks like it launched quite well and congrats on the win!

@Zilvia....I literally feel like there is a reason to bitch or moan with every single thread started here. Its not a "build" thread per say but it was "built" to the OP's specs and needs. I can show you many many examples of cars on here that are not built by the owners hands....does that not qualify? Will it not qualify my "build" since I did 85% of the work while the shop and tuner did the other 15%? Will it not qualify because I will not be posting step by step progress of every nut and bolt which was installed/modded/removed? I will not be making a "build" thread then when its all said and done so should I call it my "built" thread and not post it here? LOL only Zilvia

OP amazing car and the thing sounds mean. I hope one day to have the financial ability to build something of this caliber. Powertune is an amazing shop so once I read that you had them do the work I knew this was a home run. Congrats!

Think the beef with this car / build / whatever, its not about the car rather the way the op went about the whole deal. my assumption is the owner said to the shop i want a car that people oogle over (not the 5% of ppl the look at ever detail but the 95% that dont give a sh*t just like how it looks sounds etc) the shop said ok your gonna need this this this etc gave him estimate and he said ok... now here is where the problem lies. he post on a forum where the 5% dwell and have a voice and he saying look at me look at what ive done and admire my achievements. that rubs people the wrong way because he wasnt the brains he want the bronze and i dont think he was even the driver (at event i watched) but he was the guy walking up to get the trophy so he technically pays for glory which alot of hardcore peopl dont respect vs the guy who spent hours in his garage and can describe every inch of his car to you.

thats just my 2cent / opinion. car is beast, rider is whats being judged

^^I can see the perspective but I guess most people here havent been around other scenes such as the BMW, Supra, GTR etc scenes because you get about 50% of the population who does exactly that.

I can appreciate both aspects of it for different reasons. I am a wrench turner myself so when I see what someone has built with there hands I admire it greatly...hence the reason I sold my widebody M3 but kept my non-running S14 (everyone thought I was nuts). But then I can also admire the cash that it takes to play at the big boy level and at that level, I am thinking less than 50% of the population gets their hands dirty at all but you still have to somewhat respect the work even if its not their own.

I know people on both sides of the fence and in particular one individual has a MONSTER MK4 Supra (he put some wrench time into) and also has a Lambo Aventador....I can appreciate both sides of it but at the end of the day if you gave me the choice between my 240sx project and the Aventador, I would choose the Lambo even if I never turn a wrench on it. My cousin also had a twin turbo Aston Vanquish which he paid to have done up.....cant say I didnt admire what it took to have that finished up. Hell, even look at some of these project here....some are built on "Daddy's Money" but most wont admit it. I know a few local examples but I dont bash people....shit if my dad had that kind of money I wouldnt get my hands dirty ever and I love engineering.

I am sure we can all think of an example like this so I just think that we should be able to appreciate some builds such as these especially if the OP didnt really come across as a snobbish prick about the whole thing. The OP clearly claimed he had the car built and doesnt claim to be a mechanic so he had a professional do the work...again admirable as most people wouldnt even admit to that.

My 2 cents.

Yep, this is a pointless dick swinging thread. Cool that you can afford an R34 and pay for it to be built. Honestly though, do something for this community besides posting pictures and videos of your bought car...
